Seriously though this game is great and fun to play. If you like R&C buy this when you're able.
but above everything else
R3 obviously looks visually worse, but it has more content to offer like weapons, collectables, side-quests, locations and secrets.
It's also more varid in it's gameplay- like have vehicles to drive, arena challenges, more challenging puzzles etc and in general it's more of a challenge.
(played rift a part on the second highest difficulty and never really had any issue)
You can feel like a Rift Apart is meant for kids or young teeanger, because it tonned down or simplified a lot of gameplay mechanics, puzzles and the story itself including the humor is not as dark as R3 was.
Also currently I don't feel the desire to go for a New Game Plus run, while usually I have been looking forward to upgrade and buy new weapons and collect things I have been missing in my first run...
Rift apart is fun, looks stunning, it's core gameplay is more fluid and it's long livety is average for R&C standards, but R3 alongside a Crack and Time was the peak of the series.
TLDR:
R3: 10/10
Rift Apart: 7,5-8/10
I feel the opposite way. GC was way too easy. What I didn't like about it was its scaling/leveling which is bad, making most of your main weapons useless.
Since they improved it on UYA, it makes it feel easier. The only hard part is Naferious during 1st run with no RYNO. Specially if you forget how to kill him.
Let's just face it. These games are easy as heck. I'm glad they added difficulty options since Quest for Booty.
One you get to that Ice Planet and you realize that all enemies are just sponges not to mention that when you die you dont get munition back so more you die the harder it become, checkpoints are also far apart in all planets near the end and all enemies can kill you in 2-3 shots no matter how much health you have. After all that UYA had 0 difficulty it was really easy. Of all R&C games i find only GC to be hard rest are rly easy especially Future games.
But I really hate 3/UYA
UYA feels like devs couldn't keep up anymore with the release schedule and after perfecting most things 2 they didn't know what to do
I think what it comes down to is the lore and tone of the game. Lotsa devs are convinced that games are "art" and compare them to movies in that sense - I think that's fair.
If you look at it from that point: the PS2/PSP games were sci-fi comedy adventures, while the PS3 games and after were/are more sci-fi chosen one/superhero action films.
Depending on what genre you prefer, you will lean more towards that.
