Buliding shaders AGAIN?
Hi. I downloaded the game after the release, built the shaders and started playing. Didn't have time since then and I wanted to play it again now, but it's building shaders once again. 33% in 30 minutes. Is it building shaders each time I started the game? WTF?

Each time the developers comes out with a fix or a patch you have to start all over with building shaders.
And there have been fixes since you played if you last played on release day.

It should not rebuild the shaders every time you start the game. In case that happens, it might be a bug on your game, check the integrity through steam or re-download. I know it's nuisance but that's the type of game we're dealing with.

No.

Be careful when you verify the game data (data error check), the shaders will compile again.

REAL MEN WAIT FOR ALL THEIR SHADERS TO COMPILE NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES OR HOW LONG IT TAKES :)

Yes. Now your pc belongs to naughty dog, and as soon as you reboot and go back into windows, even windows will start to preload shaders!

There may be a recompilation of a few shaders after a game update.

You should normally only get a full recompile taking place on a fresh installation or after updating graphics drivers. (Oddly, and somewhat unexpectedly, compilation wasn't restarted here after I updated Mesa to 23.0.2 from a git snapshot between 23.0.1 and 23.0.2.)

Building shaders in Ultra really cooks my CPU, is that common?
Challenger Apr 15, 2023 @ 7:48am
I haven't checked my temperatures honestly. But I'm also playing on everything at Ultra in 1440p (with DLSS of course). It hasn't cooked yet :D I have downloaded shaders like 4 or 5 times so far. With each game's patch and Nvidia's drivers update.
