now you're just flexing.
its 2023 and this remake of a 10 year old ps3 game. this should be standard by now and done for future proofing too. 8k textures and RTX and HDR is a must or it's just not worth buying or playing.

There is almost no mainstream GPU that can handle 8k textures, Maybe in another couple generations it may be more plausible.

That kind of GPU horsepower and VRAM would literally only benefit the top 5% of gaming rigs at best.

Assuming TLOU will have mod support, perhaps there will be mods to upscale the textures to a higher resolution, But I'm incredibly doubtful that NaughtyDog will be willing to put resources into creating or upscaling textures to a resolution that will only benefit the best of the very best of gaming PC's.

Let's be realistic, Even 4k isn't exactly mainstream for gaming, Most play at 1080p / 1440p.

The top used gaming resolution currently according to steams hardware survey is 1920x1080, And for ultra wide-screen the most commonly used resolution is 3840x1080.

There is zero mention even in the slightest of 8k resolution.

2.69% of steam users game at 3840x2160 ( 4k ) whereas only 2.68% game at a resolution that is listed as "other".

You are absolutely not going to be seeing 8k textures ( or gaming for that matter ) for the foreseeable future, Not until a few more generations of GPU and CPU's has released that can handle that pixel count and run fluidly and when it's a more viable resolution and more accessible to more people.

RTX 4080 & RTX 4090 can 8K with ultra settings + RT, DLSS 3.

Trouble is, Most pc gamers, even those with a decent wedge in their wallet won't be buying a 4080 or 4090 anytime soon.

The prices are waaaaayy too unreasonable imo.

Also also, technically you're not gaming at 8k with DLSS, you're still taking a 4k Image and upscaling it via the GPU driver before outputting it to your display.

For native 8k you're going to be waiting a good while yet.

I got a 4090, it's a piece of cake to buy, get a better job. I literally can buy a 4090 every month easy.

If you look at the screenshots, you could tell that this is completely wrong. This is not the PS5 remake, nor even the PS4 remaster. This seem to be just a port of the PS3 original lol

They could always add a optional free dlc for 8k textures as not everyone needs it.
I think it's limited to 4k texture resolution.

hahaha like I said many of you really don't know what you buy. 4k, 8k, soon they will present too you 12k. All it is are 1080p upscaling old tech old crap. Yep the ultimate scam for people so they can keep on paying more bills.

Class time...

look at your electricity power. Back in the 70-80s black and white TVs were small in watts, then came the color TV more watts because of color tubes (this is your ancient 4k, 8k flex) after this plasma TV more watts, then your LCD more watts again, lets skip a few....now today Oled and Mini Oled still in 1080p super stretch upscaled more and more watts on old tech so you can pay that electricity power bill by the $300 mark and above.

uhhh..... crt's and plasmas use double the power of lcd's, and oleds use even less than lcd's. Infact it only cost about 11$ per month to run a 4k oled 24/7.
BlackRock Saber Feb 14, 2023 @ 11:14am
and that makes it The End...you only see how much it cost but not how much use you do with it.

Class has Ended.

Literally 0.24% of all Steam gamers have a 4090. It takes mental gymnastics to say everyone can easily buy one lol
