Good for getting support on the post/petition, but not much else.
I suspect we've got another year or two before AC7.
One of the biggest problems for me with AC6 is I feel it's was over-reliant on super-robot bosses to make the game "hard," and there were too many of them. I don't play Armored Core for super robot battles, I'd play DxM if that's what I wanted. And something is only super and special when they're the exception, not the rule.
I also didn't like how we're given infinite free retries to do complete missions in AC6, and you cannot continue with the game until you beat them. Yes, this is very standard game design. But I really liked how in the original games when you failed a mission; you paid the costs for failure with your wallet and the game would progress and give you your next set missions. This encourages careful planning and smart gameplay from the player - in other words, to actually use your head, not just your reflexes.
This is also how debt was implemented.
But the real boon with this approach is it comes with an incredible amount of potential for storytelling and different endings. It would be a crime to squander such an opportunity. To achieve that end, I'd want to see AC7 defaulted to Iron Man mode. So whenever you got an ending or went too deep into debt, you start over from the beginning - but you get to keep all the parts you've acquired.
I also think we can all agree the tuning system of AC6 is an insult to our intelligence.
For a tuning system, I would like to see a fusion of what we got in Last Raven and AC4: accumulate tuning points by completing missions (gain extra for doing well), then use those tuning points to improve stats on individual parts - but you cannot max out every stat because each part can only hold a certain number of tuning points.
Then my usual laundry list:
- Remove Stagger. It doesn't belong in Armored Core and doesn't actually contribute anything meaningful to combat.
- Remove Repair kits. The same function of repair kits can be achieved by adjusting AP and/or damage values. Whether you got 8000 AP + 3 kits or 24000 AP, it's the same.
- Hard lock can stay if they bring back turning speed - which would also make quick-turn boosts actually useful like they were in AC4.
- Reintroduction of both major and niche mech features and stats, like: heat, ECM, and nightvision.
- Return of extension and option parts, like flares, mines, and ECM generators, as well as shoulder mounted radar.
- Make supply drops cost money again, like they did in AC5.
- Bring back the congested HUD. Everything is widescreen now, we can spare the extra screen space.
You'd be surprised. Armored Core is FromSoftware's baby. They've been making these games since 1997 and kept making more even if they weren't top selling games. They're also very good at recycling assets, which reduces costs.
I think it will come down to whether or not Sony successfully cannibalizes Kadokawa - FromSoftware's parent company. Buyouts typically result in a big change in personnel and management, layoffs, and changes in direction of ongoing and future projects.
theres pvp and yet theres no option for a friendly match.
It's a mod, but it does exist.
