Mine is not being able to manually aim.
Your right, there was a giant box and its size was determined by the FCS or some other part you installed. Anything inside the box would get "locked" onto. If there was no lock on you wouldn't be able to hit anything...
No in Armored Core 4 it was just a mini lock on to show what you were currently targeting and what you could target. In Armored Core 5 they added a giant reticle that covered 50% of the screen the UI was a complete mess and it seems like for whatever reason they decided to stick with it.

This looks good...
Cant be let down by reverse joint legs having overall worse stats than biped again if they don't screw them on turn speed stat, so, yes there will probably be a turn speed stat. Even if you are probably going to build an AC where you wouldn't even notice.
It has been years since I played any AC but if I am remembering right, FCS also often determined "How many missile locks. you idiot you bought an FCS that can only handle 4 with a 12 missile tube launcher!?" or "That is the fast short range combat FCS, it can't even lock on to half the range of your sniper rifle, you idiot" so even if they make it less extreme than in the past, I expect it will matter when not fighting things in hallways.
Not like the vertical slice "sniper" FCS where you had to keep your target in a narrow column to keep a lock would really be an issue with arms fort Junior, coal miner edition.
Who the hell is Oro?
Let's just hope that by ignoring the Lock On system doesn't put the player on some serious disadvantage
Two things:
1) When speaking with strangers, it's better to say things like "I've never heard of Oro, who is that?" Just a heads up so people don't automatically think you're hostile.
2) Oro = Oroboro = a streamer/youtube content creator who has been making a living off of gaming content for the past 14 years. He did a video where he shared his thoughts after being invited by Fromsoft to view the demo. In the video, he states that the UI is just right, and that it's very minimalistic. For the demo footage, the UI was disabled, though. It's a good watch, highly recommend:

I don't mind a minimalist HUD, but AC is the rare case that I love a bunch of useless stuff on my screen.
I was just playing AC3P for the first time and loved that you can shove a bunch of optional stuff on the screen.
We're increasingly seeing that there's not an Armored Core fanbase, there's two completely different Armored Core fanbases. Ravens and Lynxes are looking for very different things from this game.
