Meaning it's great in 3v3, or using as a complement for your other weapon.
If they're a mid-range jumpy-dude, ya, the flamer will fail to put in good work, but that's rock-paper-scissors for you
That said? Two nice things about flamethrowers.
1: explosive type damage, so ironically okay on big wheels. Though that can be a bit risky.
2: Surprisingly nasty direct hit damage party. Though endgame boss types start spiraling so hard it causes a seizure camera once it goes from "Carve off the first half of their health bar" to "This might kill them"
Napalm is great (when it lands) but toasting a face off with the flamer will get you more "It did THAT MUCH direct hit damage!?" moments when the enemy is not essentially instantly teleporting away after a stagger.
Their "recoil" is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ though, you won't notice on the flamer. you will notice your crosshair instantly max out even with solid recoil bad melee penalty arms shooting anything else at the same time.
