Controller not working

Anyone having issues with the game not registering their controller? Xbox one controller here. Has worked on every FromSoft game I've played in the past.

UPDATE: It's working for me now :)
I'm actually not sure what I did that worked, but here's what I did (after the first post):
-Rebooted my pc
-Verified game files (AFTER I had deleted some of the .vdf files) - it told me it would re-acquire those files
-In the game's properties (from the Library), I disabled then re-enabled Steam Input
-Said a prayer
-Plugged in PS5 Controller
-Booted up game
-??
-Profit

The input display also changed from XBox to PS5 within the game.
There is hope! Not sure what will happen once I unplug the controller again, but I'll update this thread if anything changes. For now - GAME TIME

Try to re-enter steaminput gamepad inputs. Also used another USB slot.

still cant use my ps5 on AC6 in steam. so weird. do i have to play it on PS5!?

Reinstalled game
Verified files
Tested with and without steam input
Verified that steam controller input works in general
Tested controller on another game and it works
Not sure what is left to do besides wait for a patch, this seems like a program/pc build issue

Restarting steam will make the controller work again.
Closing the game without the menu leaves it in a semi running state and modifying the controls seems to stop the gamepad from being detecting until restarting steam.

Edit the main profile and reduce the deadzone of the stick to 0. Enable anti drift and set it to around 10000. This removes deadzones entirely for me, though you may need to adjust based on your controller.

After all testing, switch back over to my nintendo switch controller and it works. Xbox controller is still useless but at least something is working.

Go under settings - controls input device switch from mnk to controller and there u have them

I did this, then restarted my computer, and now it works. Using a PS5 controller, wired in.

the only issue i'm having is my LT and RT aren't working for my sword and right gun...

Simple solution : 1.install free software called "JoytoKey".
2.once you open the software press the buttons that are not working (R2 and L2 for me) you will see them light up in the app with a number in front of each one.
3. Check the key bindings in the game from the keyboard ( left and right triggers are assigned to the mouse but I did assign them to G and H in the keyboard).
4.Go to the software and assign the keyboard keys you created to the buttons you like.
5. Enjoy the game until the patch ( you can create a game profile in the app so it applies those changes only when you play it).
