Anybody knows if steam preloads cancel on release?

My internet is god awful, at most its 430 KB/s or about 3.2 Mbps, I did manage to preload elden ring to be ready for release date by downloading it literally nonstop for 2 days straight, but AC6 apparently has a slightly bigger filesize (I guess it depends on how it is compressed during the donwload, wont know until the preloads are up)

My doubt is, what if it can be ready by release date? does the preload get canceled and I gotta download the whole thing again? in that case i would rather start the download after release

its probably a very rare scenario so idk if anybody might know, but Id like to ask and try my luck anyway lol

I'm pretty sure you can keep downloading the preload even if the game releases.
You'd have to delete it if you wanted to download the normal way.

It would be super bad engineering if preload was cancelled. Steam would not do that.
