where to get sword unique skill book?

I am like 30 hours in and still havent gotten a single unique sword book lol
Not a problem for main character but my one of my companions who use sword (ex: Shangguan Hong) still doesn't have unique skills at all :(
It's not a problem for main character where he can just learn (aka, consult) to NPC but it's not working for companions.
How did you guys get unique sword skill book for companion?

You should at the very least be able to spar your shifu for a book for Tai Chi Swordplay, if memory serves. If it wasn't him, check Qingxiao. Zhenwu's Sword Intent is definitely a book you'll receive from Wudang sect at some point too.

Taihua Twelve Swordplays I think is from the Qingmu sect master? It is at least -a- unique, if nothing else.
Immortals Unforgiving Sword is another, I feel like this came from winning a solo fight as Sima Ling in her second affection quest.

There's also the move you get from Zhao An if he likes you, Nine Manifestations, but that skill has no special effects as of right now and your window to get it is pretty tiny.

As an edit for a question, which sword user are you even talking about that has no unique skills? Most of them come with one I'd thought?

Shangguan Hong. A girl with the green attire. She was my third or fourth companion, but I still haven't obtained any unique skills for her, even though I currently have a total of eight companions lol

OP, you need to do her (Shangguan Hong) quest to get her exclusive unique. Since she's already in your party, so i'm guessing you'd done the first half. Raise her affection to >70 to trigger the next part at Baidi Lake. You get the Taihua Twelve Swordplays manual after this encounter that the other guy mention and the exclusive unique for Shangguan Hong.

Also if your MC is also a sword user (or at least have 100 sword mastery) then you can get another sword unique manual at Chenghuang temple called Ape Gale Swordplay.

Are you sure your character Shangguan Hong does not have exclusive unique. Mine have so far obtained four unique sword skills namely : Baidi Whirling Swordplay - Swan, Taihua Twelve Swordplays, Immortal's Unforgiving Sword and the most powerful Tai Chi Swordplay

Damn man, I never knew about that monkey, I've been wondering where that book came from. I just had MC learn the skill from Shang Tingzhu

After you do hers you need to do Sima Ling's as hers need Shanguan Hong's completed first, hers is triggered at 50 and then 2nd quest triggers at 80, be aware that if you trigger her 2nd quest and she is under levelled you will fail her quest line as she is forced into a 1vs1 against an high level opponent so be sure you have her decently equipped and levelled before you gift her till 80. Having both Sima ling and shanguian Hong in your party is a requirement for the perfect ending in Nanjing and they are reqwarded with red unique locked to them weapons, accessories and the only unique red light skills that make the two of them essentially unkillable even by endgame bosses as long as they got MP left.

As for other companions, Some are 80 and there are some if you raised it too high it will actually trigger a negative outcome on their quest, a few hidden ones the game dont tell you unless you paid attention to the story require their affection raised to a certain point and then bringing them to a certain location that hopefully you were paying attention hours ago and remembered it and if you want to get the perfect ending on the nanjing questline DLC you will need basically every possible companion recruited and their companion quest completed prior to embarking on Nanjing.

Not to mention affection directly affects the ending of the main game on who lives and dies plus which of the main girl you end up with.

hint* to get the harem ending the 2 main girl(Ouyang Xue and Yaoji) must have the EXACT affection( both also have to be over 80) by the game's end in addition the mystery third main girl's affection must be over 60. these main story companions can not be gifted so their affection level can only be affected by their quest and actions you take that may be very easily missed. Ouyang Xue's affection level is pretty easy especially now with the DLC update there are alot of opportunity now to raise her affection so even if you missed one of her hidden time sensitive quests you can now make up for it in Nanjing. Yaoji on the other hand is very much a guide dang it still, with multiple hidden and VERY time sensitive actions you must take in order to max her affection.
