People seem like they want to have more story weight given to the party members from what I've read on the forums so far.
Makes me think of Jade Empire again, in that if you played your cards right near the end you could get a threesome with the two girls together (though the game only seemed to recognise it as you romancing the princess in the ending).
Thanks, it would be great if there was more romance content available for other girls as well.
Xue its not bad but its a bit disappointing how she seems to be the only love interest out there.
Maybe there is a romance ending for Yaoji (I have not been able to get it yet) but she needs some extra content (like at least the main character optionally thinking about her romantically) to match Xue in that regard.
IMO romance greatly helps fleshing out characters and bonds between characters are often among the best aspects of story focused games where interactions matter.
If going fully BG3 route was not possible (though it certainly helped it with such great sales) with more quests and additional banters then maybe at least make it possible for the main character to actually choose whom he wants as his love interest by the end of the game. That way if said female got enough affection points and got her quests completed then they can become a couple?
Defo more romance plot between Yaoji and the MC, between the 2 female romance tropes, she is my fav. but I think it would be nice to have romance options with Shanguan Hong, Sima ling(so cute).
i think there is some underling romantic tension between Yaoji and MC, but is not fully explored. in the good end, you can travel the world with all three main girls though.
Problem is, it's harder than it would seem, because I did all the side activities I could find, sided with her as much as I can, yet I still only got her relationship meter to 70 at the end. So it's really to just miss a couple of opportunity and be locked out of her romance
Not every person is going to open up to be romanced, and that's fine. However appealing a harem fantasy is, there's already too many games that do it. So, Wandering Sword not walking that route, I find admirable.
Although, I would say that YaoJi should 100% be romanceable. She has much more personality than Xue (who is quite a bland character tbh) and actually has an active role when it comes to helping MC. All I could recall Xue do is take a hit for Yi.
Tbh I cannot recall any non porn game that offers an actual harem route.
In BG3 one can have flings with many characters but nothing more. The closest might be marrying two tiefling sisters in Kingmaker.
Anyway given how romance in this game is optional (though MC's crush on Xue is not...) one can simply avoid it by not favoring the girls. Even Xue.
There is so little romance anyway that I do not think that it steals/diminishes any other bonds nor derails the story in any way.
Though its just my opinion.
And yeah, YaoJi>>>Xue
Much more interesting.
And by "harem fantasy" i mean games that have a lot, or every major npc companions being romanceable, not necessarily all of them at the same time.
BG3 has a bunch (male or female), Personna 5 is all of them plus a bunch more, Mass Effect has loads, recent fire emblem installements has way, way too many of them, Stardew Valley also has bunch male/female
Thing is I don't really like all three of those girls. Main one I like is Yaoji but the others like Hong, Lu and Sima or even Frosty Condor is better than the default girl.
I also find both Yaoji and Quiyang subpar to Lu Xianer and Hong'er.
Like, really, a "Discount Yaksha"& "Generic forced romance girl"
vs
"Unpredictable warrior-maiden who also RP as your wife" & "A self-made xiake who is a leader of sect without actually having people in it - basically an epitome of an actually well-written "strong female lead"".
Quite obvious choice, Imo.
Romancing Sima Ling would also be a nice option, altrough in my opinion this is a kind of romance MC will end up regretting. She has no "love" chemistry with MC at all. Only "little sister" spirit.
Frosty Condor also, but she seems to pair very well with Flaming Condor, they are like the "Team R" of Wandering Sword. But probs be nice romance option too. Why the jade hairpin cutscene if cannot romance her?
Um, no. There is a lot of context lost in translation. But I'll summarize it for you.
Flaming Condor is your typical misogynist "Alpha" male who is/was trying to put the MC (小白臉) down for being handsome. If you visited the condor sect to request help as part of Frosty Condor's quest, he'll hold a grudge against the MC for embarrassing him in front of the sect master twice (once in Mingjian, 2nd time during the visit request).
He actually dislikes for Frosty Condor (due to the supposed favoritism by the Condor Sect master, who basically treats her as a daughter). Talk to him on the world map to get a short statement.
As for Sima Ling... consider that her sisters heavily implied they were sending her off with and shipping her with the MC by having the 2 fight together as the minimum requirement to leave the sect and travel (while suggesting she needs to stop her childish ways with the MC...)
Also they all knew the MC was helping her out and her recruitment quest did not involve Shangguan Hong (Shangguan Hong is only involved in the companion quest).
Interpret that what you will, haha.
Well I saw all that but they strike me as a classic "perfect abusive duo", where male partner is a brutish jerk and female one is like totally opposite of him, and even kind of "hates" him on public, but actually are into him 100% & loyal.
Mmm maybe we approached the quest differently but in my playtrough I was doing Hong'er's quests, Sima Ling was just given as a "bonus". She was like totally a side chracter while Hong is the main).
I haven't complete the game yet, but I have a feeling Sima Ling would have been a perfect sidekick & possible partner (after some chracter development) for an evil path MC. If there is possible evil options like in other similar games closer to the end. I hope there is.
