Abilities
How do they work here? I remember games where you needed a certain amount of luck or agility to obtain some. I don't want to skill wrong to prepare for that.

You fuse essences on to your protagonist and inherit the skills from them. Stat points don’t matter in the way you’re suggesting but I would still focus your build into either magic or phys.

There is a niche for luck builds with status effects and it is viable to an extent because while bosses are resistant to status effects, they are rarely completely immune to all of them, contrary to what most RPGs teach you. But that’s not really recommended to be honest. It will make the game more difficult unless you’re really experienced.

I think i know enough about the battle system but good to know, so you still suggest I decite if I want to do magic or physical

Phys is still overall better than magic, but canon of vengeance route has some really strong moves late game that bring magic close to phys in terms of power. But that’s mostly for min maxing and something you don’t have to worry about until you start doing super bosses.

There’s an item that lets you reallocate all of your stat points. I think you can get around 2 or 3 of them in a playthrough. And abilities can be freely swapped out to an extent by getting more essences. So feel free to experiment a little.

I’ll add that stat debuffs and buffs are VERY important in these games regardless of build. Particularly the debuffs early game as you won’t have access to the multi target versions yet. You want to lower enemy accuracy and evasion as much as possible because every miss causes a loss of 2 turns and enemies play by the same rules. You have to exploit the press turn system as much as possible because enemies will do the same.

Do you fuse demons in this game? I played some of the side games and only the 3DS main game.

for nahobino always go with physical build, his best skill is light element strength-based skill

later if you care with elite virtual battle, the best damage from ally is magic build, but it's still long journey for you, so enjoy the game
