Just to double check about the new content... is this a Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse situation?

I've been staying away from the game's communities just sighing and waiting for the long destined PC release thanks to the Nvidia leak...

I get both old and new paths of the game are available, however does anyone knew if the DEVs (and not random speculation) said anything about them literally being two different paths (meaning both have merits), or the original game just being there for the sake of it and you should always do vengeance.

Like, with Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royale, there is no logical reason to ever play the OG games except for the sake of it.

Or, is it like Shin Megami Tensei IV and Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse where Apocalypse is basically a sequel that continues right from the end of the first's games neutral route so you really are better off playing IV before Apocalypse?

I am confused, which sounds about right for Atlus.

Of all the examples you mentioned it's close to Persona 3 FES compared to Persona 3

This is..less Apocalypse and more like Persona 3 FES. Improvements, enhancements, more story content. Vengeance is basically SMTV but with more. More everything. New story content, more demons, system tweaks and changes, etcetera. There's literally no point in going back to regular SMTV when you have Vengeance, much like to your point with P3FES.

Not really like Persona
Persona 3 FES has more story, just like this one. The difference is that vengeance divided the story in 2 playthroughs.

You choose at the very start and then at some point later in the game the story will diverge so it's not a new story after you finish the game like P3 FES. To see most things in the game you're gonna have to play at least twice.

And yeah, it's very new for SMT, they actually never did this as far as I'm concerned.

You choose at the very start and then at some point later in the game the story will diverge so it's not a new story after you finish the game like P3 FES. To see most things in the game you're gonna have to play at least twice.

That's actually a good catch yeah. Creation and Vengeance are technically separate, given they're each a playthrough of their own whereas with FES it's one continuous thing in a single playthrough.

If OP's wanting to 100% the game, hoo boy..last I read that's gonna require 6 playthroughs.

No, this is pretty unique when it comes to Atlus re releases, It's not a sequel, but the story is more changed than others to the point where they included the original.

Nocturne kind of did it. There's no point playing Nocturne without the Maniax additions, but I don't think the version without additions released outside of Japan and maybe Europe? Basically it's Nocturne without any Fiends, less content, and no cameos from Raidou or Dante lol

Yeah I don't think I'll do 6 play throughs in one sitting, but maybe eventually. I hear new game + will make it a ton easier and I'm not opposed to using mods/trainers after my first blind run to speed things up.

Much as I adore Persona, my deepest love has always been for their other games, mainline SMT, Devil Summoner, and Digital Devil, so maybe I will be rolled into playing through for completion.

Too much good stuff coming out. Metaphor might actually be my true Atlus crown game, as I've been wanting fantasy but SMT or Persona for ages, and now we're getting fantasy Persona X SMT lol.

I hear that. I too am eyeing Metaphor with growing interest. Looks like it's go-time for Vengeance..unless the clock is off. Zooooom!
