Worth buying?
I'm not someone who likes turn-based games. I don't like games with long stories either. I even finished the Persona series by watching the anime, I've never played the games, but I'm curious about this game and I want to play it. Do you think it's worth buying?

Well it's turn-based game. It's 100 hours game. Not like story in this something special, but battle system is very satisfying.

Basically you answered your own question so I don't think you'll like this game. SMT is the father of Persona but with deeper battle mechanics. The difference is that Personas in this game called demons are living and talking creatures while in Persona they usually just serve as tools and weapons.

Btw if you not sure it's worth buying or play, you can play demo for free and then decide whether to buy the game or not.

Thank you very much, yes, as you said it takes 100 hours, it is not possible for me to play for 100 hours without getting bored, I thought I would just shorten the time by completing the main quest parts.

It may be turn-based but it's not exactly grand strategy and most fights are over quickly. The story - while existant and in my opinion interesting - is also something you will only see every now and then. The first map has hardly any story at all which I found rather baffling. You're much more occupied exploring stuff, doing side-quests, managing your demons and fighting (whether for farming purposes or because you bumped into some enemies). I think it's fun but really more a console game and therefore possibly something you could be interested in.

As already mentioned It's also really long which I found a bit demotivating myself. I guess you could try to rush the main quest but then you would also be somewhat underleveled probably. Exploration is a huge part of powering up your team. The fun is also somewhat about micro-rewards and long-term planning.

I like turn based games but also different stuff, still not sure if my current situation allows me to givea good verdict, still I am personally waiting for 50 % sale, because of the way I judge what I heard about the story or felt during the demo, just to be on the safe side.
I am deeply infatuated with incredibly difficult turn-based JRPGs, and I would easily number this as among my top 3, with steep competition. I bought it twice at full price with all the DLCs and I still believe both purchases were worth it.

So take that for what you will.
Also, I personally consider the lack of story on-par with Persona to be its own selling point. In Persona, you spend hours and hours in school, talking to classmates, exploring town, forming bonds, ect, ect. All fun things. Great for those who love it. In SMT, you start in school and immediately leave. And only return once demons have killed everyone. You're just the cleanup crew.
I don't want to fraternize. I want to fight. Kill demons. Die. Re-strategize. Format myself and my party to succeed. Become God. Create the most powerful Idun the world has ever seen. Normal things.

what the heck. I'm serious, turn-based games are extremely boring to me. They're long, too. That's exactly why I didn't play the highly praised Red Dead Redemption 2, thinking I'd get bored. But I'm serious about this game and I want to play it. The only problem is that it takes 100 hours. I wish it was less so I could try it.

Oh the are enough espensive games for just 3 hours or something.

it is a long game but has very little story

i used to dislike turn based too but after playing smt for the first time a couple years ago, i discovered that the reason i disliked was because 90% of jrpgs do a terrible job actually making you use your brain, probably on purpose as to make for a very chilling experience, with i dislike

the more hardcore side of turn base(smt, saga, library of ruina, xcom, etc) is extremely fun imo, they keep you engaged while also still having this more simpler/console extructure that is very accessible and streamlined with i love, crpgs and pc strategy games are great and all but way too clunky and complex for me,i just want to have fun

It honestly depends on what you do, if you do a bunch of sidequests while trying to play the game on hard mode yeah it’s going to be long, especially on the canon of Vengence.

But if you do just the main story on an easier difficulty it’s not going to be over 100 hours long, but I suggest doing the canon of creation first if you really want to try it out. Better yet just play the demo to see if you would like it or not.

I was on the fence because the game looked cool but I thought I wouldn't like turn-based games until I played it. It's a long game with not much story, but there's quite a lot of fun NPC dialogue. I haven't played the demo but maybe try that.
