Good entry point to games like these?
I'm wondering if I should pick this up, or Persona 5 Royal.
I don't have much experience with turn-based JRPGs like these, mostly stuff like Fire Emblem and Pokemon ages ago.

Persona 5 royal is much more story driven while SMT V unfortunately doesn't feature a story as rich as SMT IV but makes up for it with absolutely fenomenal gameplay, from the combat to the exploration it's just so masterfully crafted it's unreal. Persona 5 royal has great gameplay but it's nowhere near as deep as SMT V, still there's a lot to do and it's addictive as hell, i have over 350 hrs on the playstation version of the original P5 and P5 royal combined.

So in short would you rather have a more noob friendly, story driven approach with P5 or would you rather get thrown into the lion's den with SMTV? IMO if you start with P5 then all other games in the series will be much easier to understand since you'll already be familiar with the general idea behind the gameplay systems.

Also tone wise the games are completely different, if you like the japanese high school setting with romance elements then P5 is a no brainer, SMT tends to be more on the esoteric, religious and dark side of things (with some silly elements to break the mold from time to time).

the good thing about this game, there's no overpower teammate sunce beginning, Royal has some high level persona that you can summon for free since beginning, you cab ignore them though

anyway i was started from P5R, difficulty wise this game is harder than Persona 5 Royal

Thanks for the responses. I'm not massively a fan of the high-school/college setting, so I think I'm gonna stick to this game instead.
