anyway i was started from P5R, difficulty wise this game is harder than Persona 5 Royal
So in short would you rather have a more noob friendly, story driven approach with P5 or would you rather get thrown into the lion's den with SMTV? IMO if you start with P5 then all other games in the series will be much easier to understand since you'll already be familiar with the general idea behind the gameplay systems.
Also tone wise the games are completely different, if you like the japanese high school setting with romance elements then P5 is a no brainer, SMT tends to be more on the esoteric, religious and dark side of things (with some silly elements to break the mold from time to time).
