I've got some friends who played on switch who both agree that for some reason your ability to render the female demons up close got reduced by a significant margin. You can even see the difference for yourself if you just try to approach them and then alternate back and forth from a male demon.
The difference is night and day, but it also really doesn't change much when it comes to actual gameplay, You have to go out of your way to zoom in on demons with free cam in the first place. As far as I know, all the fanservice animations and closeups are still present and unaltered.
Free cam is a built-in feature limited to demon haunts.
Thank you for the information and your help but I have one more question I guess would the draw distance nerf be considered censorship I’m personally leaning towards maybe it’s a glitch of this game being remastered but it could be my hopefully thinking lol!
From my point of view it's definitely intentional censorship but it's to the most meaningless degree it's pretty petty to heavily consider it when purchasing or reviewing. Just the fact that you can see the obvious difference between male and female demon ranges is enough to prove that it's not just a matter of port or remaster, but selective decision.
If I were going off your provided definition of censorship in the OP then I'd say no, it doesn't qualify. The artistic intent, presentation and gameplay haven't been impacted. They just added camera restraints to an optional free cam feature meant for screenshots.
They most likely just didn't want a bunch of upskirts in the community screenshots page when you stop to think about it.
Thank you for sharing your perspective.
From what you've explained, it does seem like the changes are quite specific and targeted, which supports my idea that there might be intentional decisions behind these alterations. However, since the core gameplay and artistic intent remain unchanged, it arguably falls short of full-fledged censorship by the provided definition given.
While these modifications might not affect gameplay directly, they can still influence the overall experience, particularly for those who value the freedom of the free cam feature which can add for those that may want it. It's good to know that there's a mod available to address some of these issues, even if it's still a work in progress.
I appreciate the detailed explanation and the link to the mod. It helps me better understand the nature of these changes and their impact on the game experience.
But as for me and my decision I will probably buy this game off of Humble Bundle and mod it for peace mind. Hopefully others can find this thread helpful as well and not end up as confused as I was. Thank you for your help and I hope you have a great day.
While SMTVV has ecchi content, it is a completely different matter if the player can be allowed to be a pervert. Do i support this type of censorship? Hell no. Its not a big deal and never was. If you are on the fence of buying the game because of this, i would advise to still buy it and install some mods that fix this issue. To conclude, yes, it is censorship. And anyone that says otherwise is just uninformed and talks out of their slit.
It's slightly one-sided whatever people want to call it if not censorship lol
