Its a shame honestly… well i could understand that they change it for narrative reasons to fit the game setting

I thought the design change WAS for narrative reasons so they had a 'generic footsoldier angel who gets bodied constantly in cutscenes' angle. It'd be a little odd to see BDSM Angel getting obliterated constantly en-masse whereas the mask-faces can be blown apart and one wouldn't feel too much empathy or disturbance about it in contrast.

It's returning to the OG Angel desgin quite a bit.
The designs in the series do change with pretty much every game. It had to happen to Angel one time or another.

There's a Dozen of Half Naked Demons, so that's not a censorship problem.

Suggestive? That's putting it generously. Most the creature designs are sexualized just for the sake of it, ignoring the description of the creatures in the actual myths. Meanwhile there are a few suggestive ones, if you consider a hentai monster suggestive.
