Can someone explain alignments in this game?

I'm really confused by light-chaos or dark-law.
I've also seen light-neutral and neutral-chaos.
What does all this mean?

Best description i can give is the Alignment chart from something like dnd, where you can be chaotic good or lawful evil. In this instance, its Light/Dark, and Law/Chaos. Think angels are typically light law while evil demons are dark chaos, but that doesnt mean you cant have an angel that wants to destroy everything while a demon wants to protect those same things

In older games your alignment would actually dictate what demons you can recruit. If you are lawful then you get angels and sacred spirits, or if chaotic evil then you get wild demons and demon lords.
Later games now has done away with that so other then categorization of the demons themselves your alignment has no baring on what demons you can or can't recruit.

You can look at the lore of any demon in the compendium and it will give you their EXACT alignment. Sometimes it won’t always be obvious so be sure to look at their lore.
