Well, technically speaking, the SMT III: Nocturne remaster (which was released in 2021) would qualify as one of the ports, seeing it was originally a PS 2 game.
Also, while you sort of have a point, there's something to keep in mind.
Even with Sega being the publisher nowadays, this is Atlus whose games we're talking about. Based on what I've heard, the people at Atlus are somewhat notorious on keeping quiet about their projects for a long time, or providing only mere teasing crumbs of information regarding them.
We did get Etrian Odyssey HD trilogy, and they literally run on the same engine.
And SMT 1-2, 4A, SJ, DDS, Raidou and Devil Survivor Games.
Thanks Atlus.
What if this Strange Journey remake combined First-Person and/or Third-Person Shooter mechanics with the classic MegaTen formula of fusing demons? Aren't UN Peacekeeping Troops and Mercenaries involved in the plot of Strange Journey?
It's implied that Bethel issues COMPs to JSDF soldiers if you talk to NPCs in Tokyo, so a MegaTen game that combines monster collecting JRPG mechanics with Shooter Mechanics (Ideally with the option of either First Person or Third Person Gun Play) is would be something I'd personally want to see.
I play the games through citra and they look perfectly fine even at 1440p, especially with a proper CRT-filter.
I also hope that they won't just smear a smoothing-filter over the entire screen if the games ever get a remaster, because those just look completely awful and ruin the entire aesthetic.
I would like it if they both rereleased the old version of 4 and 4A as well as did a remake as well. Like how you can get both Persona 3 Portable and Persona 3 Reload on Steam as well. Though I would personally prioritize a rerelease.
There is a silver lining: The fact that it is confirmed the first Raidou game, Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army will have a remaster (and it likely means the sequel might get one too sooner or later), is proof that the folks at Atlus do remember their older games.
Plus, Raidou's games are somewhat connected to the timeline of SMT and SMT II, so I wonder if those two may get a remake or remaster in the future.
