When I see DENUVO in a game I pretty much read "pirate me" instead.
Maybe this could refresh peoples memory:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXZGCwAJpbM
Also, I should add that the only real way for people to not pirate is to offer value. I mean real value. Like the one that we see in CDPR games that sells a real lot of copies even without any DRM at all. Also, the game don't have an absurd price so the game offers real value for the money. Again, Gabe Newell said that "piracy is a problem of bad service from dev companies".

Another take from a dev about piracy:

So, what DENUVO is? Just bad service. It's a bad service tied to absurd price. I hope I was able to explain why DENUVO = Pirate me.
I don't think Reinhard and his cronies require you or anyone at their beck and call for defense.
That name doesn't say anything to me. I don't know who this poor individual you are obsessing over is, but I sure hope your Intrusive thoughts about him don't end up winning.
CEO of Irdeto.
I don't know why you want DRM in your games which ends out harming your ownership and performance.
I don't want DRM in my games.

I'd rather not have it; I just don't care about Deruvo as much as you do.
Maybe given their track record 4+ years ago - though I think it's funny people are spreading this mis-information it is still fragile as an egg. Best comparable examples - neither P3R nor P5R got cracked yet and it's been a year +.
Anybody can also currently check the Reddit of all Denuvo games that have been cracked, and you will find 2 things to go off of :
- "Immortals of Aveum Demo" from 8/22/2023 was the last game cracked; previous one being "Etrian Odyssey HD+ I-III" on 6/1/2023, then "Dead Island 2" 4/21 (so 1 every few months)
- With regards to AAA cracks, it is said only 1 person remains in this scene (EMPRESS) - otherwise there was a falling out between the group and most quit. Empress also only does this for a commission.
Hence - 10 cracks last year is a good deal of them, but notice I didn't list any for 2024 as there isn't one yet.
**Mind you - I am not saying this as a supporter; just that they are finding new ways to make it harder.
And I get that - I just included it to further the example as technically, the game did have Denuvo added, and you could find a version online (which is better than nothing at all).
In practice however - the game having been given to pirates effectively due to missing Denuvo up-front :
A) Shows people will still pirate a game without Denuvo in the vacuum of this one case vs pay for it - proofing out why ORGs are still using it
B) Denuvo is working as expected to the point that 2023 had only *7 games release that where cracked
* : It's a bit hard to tell what "Demo Bypass" means without the background, but if this truly means the demo was cracked vs the full game - then that number is actually 5, as "Dead Space" (just like "Immortals of Aveum" above) was a Demo Bypass. Would bundle this with Odyssey as your also playing an older version of the game, and just hopped from the demo into the game (as I assume it is breaking an invisible wall that stops you from playing the full game via the demo).
IF I have to choose from being for your or against you then I'm against you. In that case I support Denuvo wholeheartedly.
You don't get people to join your side by forcing them.
This is objectively the incorrect take. Arguing against consumer rights is a fool's errand, especially since it's amoral and anti-utilitarian in nature.
I'm not the one who made that ultimatum. If someone says that I have to speak for your cause or be automatically against it, then obviously by default I'm against it.
How about this then:
You're for the removal of DRM or you're for the metaphorical idea of taking in the diseased lengths of corporate executives and saying "thank you daddy" after each and every meal?
It's more apropos to say that. Sadly, there's no third options.
