Switch Port?
Anyone know if this is another Dragon Quest XI situation where we’re only getting a Switch port with downgraded visuals? I noticed the shadows for the trailer seemed a little rough. Hopefully it still runs well on PC and other platforms at least.

This is a weird comparison to make. Dragon Quest XI was notable because it was released on a bunch of platforms and the high fidelity PS4 version was released on PC. When Square-Enix released the expanded version, they only released it for Switch so when it was re-released for PC they had to use that version as the base.

Regardless of how improved Vengeance turns out to be compared to vanilla SMTV, there is no other high fidelity version to compare it to. By definition it can't be a "downgraded" version. Whatever comes out on PC will be the best version available, though will likely be no better than what is released on PS4/PS5/XBox/Switch in terms of anything other than framerate and resolution.

There’s already precedent, though, just saying.

The game may be higher resolution and run at better frame rates on other platforms, but the graphical textures and assets may very well not be any better than the Switch version. It’d probably be cost-effective really on development time.

This game was originally made only to be on the Switch, and they haven't been boasting this new iteration will be sporting enhanced visuals on other platforms, so I doubt it.

WIll at least have better framerate but i think the games art style will hold up pretty well.

Yep, I agree. No huge deal, but just curious anyway. Just hoping we get the best possible game.

Wait, I stand corrected: The store page mentions the new version of the game will have "enhanced visuals for modern platforms".

This could just mean resolution, but who knows.

Previously the Switch version was the only version, which ran at sub-30fps.

This PC version will look and perform better than that.

Yes, it's a switch port, but it can still benefit from things like higher resolution and higher FPS.

The fact that this game was imprisoned on Switch's shitty hardware is a crime against gaming. It's a Switch game that switch could barely even run.

So don't make fun of it for being a Switch game, even a Switch game deserves humane treatment instead of Nintendo Gulag.

STMV often ran sub 30FPS and sometimes dipped as low as 15 in cutscenes. It ran at a dynamic resolution at 1536x864 in docked mode meaning that it both dipped in FPS and resolution despite already being at such low numbers.

I would only wish this fate to my worst enemies like FIFA, live service mobile games or DOTA games.

Now I only wish we could rescue Bayonetta 3 from the horrifying conditions it's being held under.

lmao this made me laugh. I didn’t mean to sound too condescending, but I get it. I’ll still be buying on PC regardless. Been waiting a long time to see this happen.
