Is this just V but like with updates?
I'm a bit confused on what this game actually is

V was a horribly unfinished game and this edition is an attempt to slap a band-aid on that
Whether it'll actually do it favors is up in the air but it looks promising

Do we know if there is anyway to transfer save/upgrade to this edition? (Talking switch of course)

Well, they said something about giving away some items if you own the original game.

If you buy the switch version then you can use your save file to get extra items plus bring up to three demons from your compendium depending on how complete your save is like getting extra ending and what not.

SMTV on switch is better than P4G. no cap

Its the Persona 5 Royal, but for SMT5

For those who've played Persona, that explanation probably makes a lot more sense.

This is an SMT V port with newly added content (most likely a large portion).
The best analogy is probably Persona 5 to Persona 5 Royal.
Basically the main game with a big story DLC included.

Better than their PC port, at least...

ATLUS was one of my favorite devs but, after making the mistake of buying P4G here, I even stopped buying their stuff on console.

I have more fun, and a much better experience, with my PS2 copy of Persona 4 on PC than the actual PC port of P4G. It also stutters less, and plays smoothly, when a poorly done Vita port can't even manage to not have stuttering in cutscenes on a PC that can play Cyberpunk with ray tracing enabled.

Etrian is my third favorite (after Ultima, Ys, and the Kiseki branch of Eiyū Densetsu) series and I'd grumble if they *gave* it to me after how bad their PC ports have been. SMT is a series I've played *every* game from, and all the side games and spin-offs, even ones not released in "the west" and yet somehow seeing something I was so excited to hear about being continued on Switch leaves me with a "meh" since they can't even bring themselves up to Square Enix levels of actually patching their ports here.

this is the base game with a expansion on it.
so the vanilla game had 4 or 5 endings you could do in the vanilla path.
this version will add a completly different path you can take which is relatively early in the game. you have to decide then if you take the vanilla path and play the standard game or the new one.
