How do you pronounce Reus?
I have heard the name pronounced at least two different ways. what is the official way according to the devs?

I imagine it's supposed to be pronounced like the latin word "deus" but with a R instead of D.

But I find myself pronouncing it like the Portuguese word "réus" https://translate.google.com/?sl=auto&tl=en&text=r%C3%A9us&op=translate

Reus is a Dutch word that means Giant. It is not pronounced like like the Latin 'Deus'.

Reus is a single-syllable word, 'eu' is a single sound that I'm not sure actually exists in English. So if you want to know what it sounds like, you're probably gonna have to ask someone who speaks Dutch.

I say "royce"

Actually, "royce" wouldn't be too far off. The "eu" is pronounced in a similar way to the French "deux". If that doesn't help, ust type "reus" in Google Translate (Dutch) and press the audio button.

That being said, I believe the devs (who are also Dutch) have been saying "re-us" for a very long time.

I pronounce it "Ray-us"

If you're pronouncing is like ray-us / de-us ex,. you'd be doing it wrong.
Reus is a single word, and actually a dutch word meaning Giant as explained above.

It should sound closer to "ruse" with the "e" being silent.

I personally say it Ri-us!

The verbal I found says it Roosh, spoken quickly to keep it a very short syllable as an English speaker would think of it. The R also has a bit of an N intonation mixed into it. Like you are mouthing an N but making an R sound. I'm having difficulty doing it as a native English speaker. Also the SH is extremely truncated, to the point a native English speaker would need to hear it a few times to recognize the SH is there and its not just an S.

The eu in Dutch has a bit of Dutch flair to it you'll have to ask Google translate or similar to pronounce for you, but for a close-ish approximation I can write down, roose, to rhyme with goose and loose

You can type " røs " into http://ipa-reader.xyz/ then select "Ruben [Dutch]" from the drop down box. That's how the Dutch would say it. Then again - as a developer - I would say that there is no official way to pronounce it, it's up to you ;)

Its something of a cultural thing in the English speaking world to try to learn the proper pronunciation of things. Its way of showing respect. I know you are trying to be nice with "say it how you want" but we are trying to be nice with "we want to say it correctly".
