WCS-server with RHS-mod overwrite grass-distance-settings !!!
I dont like the grass in arma.games and turn it off or set the distance to the lowest.
But very often after i join on the wcs-server suddenly the grass-settins in my optionsmenu of reforger is set to maximum.

I hate it a lot when a fu..... mod change my graficsettings in my maingame ! The mod can run ir different graficsettings,that is ok. But a fu..... mod have no permission to change my grafic settings of the main game.

Hope bohemia will fix the problem that no mod will allowed to change the graficsettings of reforger !!!!

Dont know on whis WCS-server it happens. You find some WCS-server in the game,but it seems only some (or one) server will overwrite the grass-settings to maximum.

Again a mod will not have the permission to change anything in the maingame !!!

I already got used to open settings and disable minimap + decreasing grass distance to 75 everytime i join WCS.

It is a impudence to allow a mod to change the maingame-settings. What comes next,mod will overwrite all keybindings ????

Hope Bohemis integrate an option not to allow mods to change anything in the maingame-settings.

I hate it so lot when a fu..... mod have the permission to make changes in the maingame.

afaik grass minimum visible distance is a server-side option. Obviously WCS doesn't want you to have the setting low, as it gives an unfair advantage over someone who has the distance at a higher setting.

You're gonna be real mad when you find out the experimental branch is increasing grass rendering distance. The fact that the grass is rendering isn't the problem, the fact that you want it not to render so you can have an advantage over other players is the problem. If you want to do that in single player, fine. Don't complain about it when it gives you an unfair advantage. The developers don't intend for that to be the case.

It is not unfair !!! Most Arma3 (and Arma 2)player know this: When a person lay for example on the ground he will not see in grass so enemies cant see him (or very hard to locate). But when grass distance set on minimum the soldier will not see too because he will simple not shown.....so same effect. So the "emty ground" will not show the enemy.

Dont know if it is different between arma 2/3 but i dont think. So visible or not visible is always the same if grass is on or off/low distance.

Not what I have seen in the game. With grass distance reduced it looks like a bunch of idiots laying prone in a bare field.
This whole post feels like a troll; Arma 3 (Which I don't have the hours on this account) and Arma 2 have a way worse visual fidelity. Arma 3/2's camos didn't blend in that much or were noticable opposed to this game, which even on low graphics people blend in. Whole new game and new graphics at work opposed to the same game with a new face; you'll notice eventually. Why play at low grass opposed to high? Does it affect your frames? No, but it affects 'how you play' which is unfair, I hope Bohemia allows this forever.

I don't think its a mod, servers can set the minimum grass rendering distance regardless of mods.

Bohemia needs to do something about grass at long range, even just sinking our characters into the terrain would work but theres no point in going prone in tall grass because you wont be hidden and all and now you can't see anything.

Well, if they sunk into the ground I think that'd be a worse solution than idiots laying in a 'bare field' the new experimental has some performance boosts and is allowing up to 300m of grass rendering. Even on low settings for grass it can conceal people; I've avoided helicopters by laying in grass and infantry too many times. 300m is pretty much the average big open field in Everon and Arland so it'd be pretty good.

they did the sinking into the ground thing was already a part of arma 3, and it was awful, they could of just made this game on a newer engine for PC ONLY and maybe then it COULD of been made with the grass rendering passed 20m by default but they couldn't resist the console market money which means the game needs to be able to be run on a over glorified toaster
In my opinion a multiplayer pvp game like ARMA, grass settings 100% should be server locked. There's no reason why someone who has a high end gaming pc should have to turn down the grass distance because people with a potato cant run with grass on.

Besides, why play a military simulator game to make it look like roblox for an advantage in pvp. If you want to be able to see someone prone in a field 500 meters away in a blanket of green textures go play fortnight.

I don't want to have to be prone hidden in the grass to get shot by someone with a pistol prone at the other side of a field because they have modified their grass settings. Its cheesy and takes away from the actual fact that the game is supposed to be a war based simulator unlike games arcade based military games

I dont like grass because AI can see right through it and at any range beyond 100 meters using it for concealment is useless
