Wrong Game Version

My game is updated; validated files.
My friends games are updated; validated too.
But when they try to join (using mods ofc) it says wrong game version; what gives?

It is a local hosted server; it's on my version of the game which I read off as the same as all my friends.

me and a friend are having this issue where i'm trying to host but he can join a vanilla local host when i run it, so it seems to be related to some mods?

Yes, I found the issue. Some mods have since been removed from the workshop due to being out of date; if these mods are enabled then it will give an error.

Step one is not, make a thread on steam. Step one is always to remove all mods, and see if the "problem" persists.

Ok, well the issue is;

Steam Threads are meant to discuss and ask questions; so why not ask?

Not the point, primarily the point is I don't see why this added this feature and why it didn't warn you in the mod loader for the server prompt but only in the mod menu in the manager.

And yes; why do you think I clarified I was *using* mods? It wasn't because I'm an idiot, it's because oh, maybe I don't know... I wanted to use a few!

lol, multiple people are already discussing this issue, but thanks for the productive feedback. see my comment where i explicitly said it was only when using mods. why are you even in this thread if you have nothing to actually contribute to the troubleshooting?

I know he's quite productive; but let's ignore him since it's off topic. I think the issue may be related to the fact some Addons are "Outdated" and can no longer be downloaded but are still in the addons list, try to delete all of them and test it out with a few you *know* are updated.

i send the mods folder from my server, to my friend and the error not showing up and it works for us

So I'm having this same issue except I have NO mods and the game tells me I have the wrong game version (1.2.1.173) but it also says "Server version:" and then leaves that blank with no other information. Please help :(

Is the server your trying to join crossplay? If not, turn yours off. Otherwise, verify or reinstall the game.
