Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Why Deck Nine and not Dontnod?
So i played almost every Life is strange titles but saw recently, after looking at the store page, that the developer was no more Dontnod but Deck Nine. Did something happen? I wanted to buy Double Exposure but it not being developed by Dontnod is a big turn-off ngl.

Only the original game and Life Is Strange 2 (and Captain Spirit) were developed by Don't Nod. Before the Storm and True Colors were Deck Nine, as is Double Exposure.
Because Don't Nod wants to make good games and we can't have that. Deck Nine follows orders to ruin games without questions like a good SBI client so Square Enix preferred them.

:steamsalty:
Don't buy it, the story and game is completely garbage. It's an insult to og lis. Deck Nine needs to be taken down
Because let's be honest, comparing what Decknine achieved with True Colors and now Double Exposure to the rather tepid stuff Dontnod has put out since LiS1 really suggests that back then they caught lightning in a bottle and have not been able to recreate the experience since.

While Decknine might not be innovative, but at least they manage to recreate the feeling of playing LiS1 and the characters and the game's atmosphere. Far more than the original makers achieved.

So i watched Videos and couple of Streams and i cant really agree. De Atmosphere seems really not good.

I mean I played the game, start to finish, and all the other ones by both studios, too. To me Decknine understands what made LiS1 great, and the showed that twice now. While Dontnod keeps bumbling about trying to recapture the magic.

"Tepid" is a word that I would also use to describe the Dontnod games I've played post LiS 2.

And Dontnod wants to capture that lightning in a bottle yet again with Lost Records: Bloom and Rage. I wish them luck. They're going to need it.
Because DontNod did LIS 2, which is the weakest of the LIS main games, and they didn't do well with that game, so they had to give up the IP.

Lis2 is million times more creative than anything in DE

Well, we'll just have to agree to respect each others opinion then, no matter how wrong yours might be.

It's true in that its the most unique and creative of the series, but that also makes it stick out like a sore thumb compared to the other games. Then the differences, also came with its issues that aren't present in the other games that don't have those differences.

You may not like the story, characters or changing locations but to deny that the game is creative, cinematic and artistic is pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Just compare journals in Lis2 and this one.

Oh you might have misunderstood my post. I agree, LiS:DE is a creative, cinematic and artistic. To deny that is pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
To answer OP, Don't Nod sold the rights to Square Enix. They refused to let Don't Nod handle the games, but only Deck 9.
SoulSteppe is right. DontNod sold the rights to LiS to Square so that they could have the money and creative freedom to make independent games. Square then cast around for a cheap developer to carry on the work. Deck Nine had a game engine with no game to make, they were a good fit and willing to do it cheap.

D9 have had bad luck (bad pitching skills?) when it comes to securing other work outside of the LiS series, so they keep agreeing to do them on a tiny budget and with Square having strong influence over the storyline.
