True RNG or biased RNG?
Hi all. Just curious if anyone knows the technology behind the RNG in the game.

Of course RNG has a tendency to make us all paranoid (and after the act 2 boss fight I just had I'm feeling SUPER paranoid lol) so I figured I'd just ask in case anyone knows the algorithm behind the game, and if not - if people wouldn't mind sharing their experiences with RNG in the game.

It is apparently true RNG with no weighting. The dev mentioned this here somewhere.

I have seen enough crazy ♥♥♥♥ happening while playing blood bowl to not feel paranoid about this game.

Crazy, unlikely ♥♥♥♥ is actually the best sign in the world of a true RNG. Just try playing a game using lots of dice in real life, and you'll end up with a bunch of stories about unlikely ♥♥♥♥.
Biased RNG was what XCOM had, to help players (secretly increased the chance of hits when you had missed multiple shots).

Technically speaking, there is no such thing as "true RNG" especailly in computer systems. But there are better Random Number Generators than others. In C++, std::mt19937 is significantly better than the default rand() function.

The brain's just really good at spotting patterns that aren't really there.

Thanks for all the replies everyone x3 So most likely it's just good old paranoia :steamfacepalm:

I'd say the problem is that the range is too small (d6). The chance to succeed vs fail is way too high, and limits strategy compared to luck.

my luck with RNG games is and always will be shocking, for example, abyssel warriors takes shots from goblin short bows, all hit with 6 (wish i screenshot it but i wont lie i was just meh its a +2 save) go to save out of my 15 warriors 13 rolled a 1 then i rage quit

i also have this luck with artillery pieces where i constantly roll a 1 (even with re-roll it goes back into a 1) and the enemy mostly rolls sixes so ive stopped taking them now and just focus on cav units as thats where my success normally lies

not sure if this is rigged but i am 1 hella unlucky guy when it comes to RNG (this includes BG3, BB3, Rogue Trader, X-com etc...)

It sucks a lot when you are unlucky. But that is part of the game, you cannot take anything for certain (recently my choice of undead knights feels very bad, they never seem to be able to hit anything....)

I've seen ridiculous dice rolls in every direction, both for and against me.
If it's weighted then I don't see it.
