What is WARDOGS?

WARDOGS is our take on the All-Out Warfare FPS genre, bringing together grounded tactical gunplay, vehicular combat, building, large-scale destruction and a deep economy-based metagame into a large social sandbox with up to 100 players.

How do you play WARDOGS?

The core game mode in WARDOGS is inspired by King of the Hill. Every match features up to one hundred players split across three teams: Valkyra, Lonestar and Manticore. Your objective is for your team to secure and maintain control of an area of the map known as the Control Zone. Every thirty seconds, the team with the most players in the Control Zone earns one point, and the first team to reach one hundred points wins the match.

When will WARDOGS be released?

WARDOGS will be entering Steam Early Access later this year.

What platforms will WARDOGS be available on?

The game is currently being developed for PC. Future platform availability will be considered as development progresses. Controller support is limited in the current version.

When / How can I join a playtest?

FirstLook is our chosen signup service. Upon completion of your FirstLook signup, you will be granted access to this Discord server and placed on the waiting list. Keep an eye on the appropriate announcement channels to stay informed.

How are 100 players split across three teams?

WARDOGS features a seamless drop-in/drop-out system designed for any schedule. Because player skill and playstyles vary so widely, we’ve found that an extra player on one team doesn't give them an unfair edge. Whether you're here for ten minutes or two hours, the focus remains on the gameplay, not the headcount.

Is the gameplay more arcade-style or realistic?

Our internal motto is “A Tactical All Out Warfare Shooter that hasn’t forgotten it’s a game”. The goal is to strike a balance between slower-paced tactical decision making and reactive & responsive gunplay. Every choice a player makes, from their purchased loadout to moment-to-moment decisions in a firefight, has varying levels of risk & reward.

WARDOGS is designed with systems that reward players who consider their actions & master the various gameplay mechanics and weapon behaviours. From projectile ballistics and ammo types to weight system and inventory management. These features are designed for players to think about the consequences of their loadout choices and moment-to-moment actions in the field, rather than just point, shoot and forget gameplay.

Can I drive vehicles or fly aircraft?

Yes! WARDOGS features drivable vehicles and flyable aircraft, giving players multiple ways to engage in combat and support their teams.

Will there be different roles or classes to choose from?

Players can expect to take on different combat roles to suit their playstyle and contribute to their squad and team's success. This doesn’t come in the form of set classes. Players have the freedom to purchase whatever equipment/vehicles, and items they want to be able to play whatever role suits their playstyle. Like building? Purchase building items. Like being a medic? Buy yourself bandages and medkits. Like both? Buy a bigger backpack and play both ways! Every role is viable, but roles that play into team play will be the most profitable.

Will progress during playtesting carry over to the full game?

Cash earned during early Pre-Alpha playtests will not carry over to the full game, as the game is still in active development and subject to changes.

Can I drop out during a playtest?

Ideally, playtesters stay for the full duration of the testing period – however WARDOGS is purposely designed as a drop-in/out session for both dedicated and time-strapped players. Players who have a full evening to play multiple long matches OR players who only have 10 minutes to play for one life and earn some cash – it will not matter as every player in the zone is contributing to their team. However, players who join a server must select a team to be considered ‘active’ to allow a match to begin.
