WARDOGS is launching into Steam Early Access on 10th September, with pre-orders live RIGHT NOW, which grants guaranteed access to our Closed Beta on 21 August.

In our latest DEVLOG, we run through 10 Reasons why you should NOT Buy WARDOGS -covering our early access strategy, stair stepped pricing and long-term monetisation plans among many other points such as local VoIP and gamepad support. 

Ahead of launch, we wanted to be as clear as possible about what WARDOGS is, what it isn’t, and what you should expect from us during Early Access. Ultimately, we encourage you to try out the game and refund if the game doesn’t live up to your expectations.

Closed Beta Access 

Our Closed Beta will run from the 21st- 23rd August. 

Closed Alpha was a HUGE success for us with an overwhelmingly positive response seen across social media. However, we have been capped on how many Steam Keys we can send externally, so we can no longer grant keys via the original signup process. 

For Beta Access, we will be able to let a small number of players into the Beta randomly via the native Steam Playtest signup process. However we wanted to ensure the players who most want access can get a guaranteed invite to the Closed Beta. Pre-ordering allows us to grant access directly to you without fully opening the floodgates like an open beta would. That allows us to far more accurately predict our launch day numbers and server requirements to help ensure stability for everyone at launch. 

If you pre-order to get access to the Closed Beta and decide WARDOGS isn’t for you, that’s okay – we actively encourage refunding if the beta doesn’t live up to your expectations.

Lifting NDA 

We are now officially lifting our NDA* and creators can post your banked Closed Alpha footage from this past weekend if you so desire. Feel free to check out real players first impressions videos as we expect some of those to be going out right about now. 
 
*ETP Playtests will still be under NDA. Please read all discord announcements carefully. 

WARDOGS Supporter Edition 

Today, we’re also announcing WARDOGS Supporter Edition.

WARDOGS Supporter Edition offers additional cosmetic content to the base game for players who want to help support BULKHEAD and the future development of WARDOGS. There will be no monetization on WARDOGS during Early Access with the sole exception of this optional supporter edition. 

This Supporter Edition includes; 

- 3 ‘Starter Weapon’ Camos 

- Valkyra Branded A-91 Rifle Camo 

- Lonestar Branded Bushmaster Camo 

- Manticore Branded KH-2002 Camo 

- Littlebird Helicopter ‘Taxi’ Camo 

- Supporter Icon on scoreboard (can be hidden in settings) 

- Grenade Bobblehead 

- Helmet Bobblehead

To be extra clear on BULKHEAD’s stance re: monetisation. 

 1. We will NOT monetize the game at any point during Early Access. 

2. We will NEVER monetize in-game cash or gold bars, they must be earned through play. 

3. We will NEVER allow you to directly purchase camos, camos should show that a player has worked hard to unlock that item not how much money they have.
