As someone who struggles a good amount with rhythm games, I think it's pretty commendable that my only complaints are mostly about the human characters looking and moving bad compared to the robots, some of the dialogue occasionally being a bit cringy and sometimes diversity feeling like it was left as a higher priority than interesting character designs (for clarification's sake: they nailed it for the robots, I am mostly talking about the human characters).

After you get used to these problems, though, the rest of the game is pretty much excellent. Of course, the giant robots dancing is the main attraction here and it's done incredibly well:
- All the mechs, both playable and enemy variants have distinct mechanics and designs.
- The songs are all quite good, even as someone who doesn't tend to like lyrics that much, I found them to be pretty catchy, specially the one simply titled "Pain", I really can't get it out of my head!
- The rhythm mechanics start low and easy but as you unlock more robots to play as and additional universal mechanics, you won't just try to improve with your timing, but also your own strategy, since the mod system allows you to slightly tune each mech to a playstyle you are comfortable with.

All of this is combined with a pretty decent story, customizable music (which I still gotta mess around with, I must admit) makes Steel Century Groove both a strange game that I never knew I needed and an incredible experience.
