Base location

Has anyone made a base at the Lyon Mountain Quarantine Center? Not only is it fenced all the way around, the building is huge and is stock full of meds. And there are lots of vehicles in the parking lot. The tool shop has lots of room building your own tool shop, not to mention all the rooms in the main building.

Oh if you want to level up your lockpicking skills, this is the place to do it.

Been there but wasn't a huge fan of the location.

A place I'll probably build my next base at though is the Ambient Energy Powerhouse in Dannemora (can see the smoke stack from pretty far off)

It's got a generator and Air conditioning, nice spots on the roof for Solar Panels + Windmills and is completely fenced in. Can shoot through the fence and Zombies can't climb it. Lots of Tool chests already there for any tools ya need.

fenced in doesn't matter. i have a spot that's completely closed in around the building and zombies are continuously magically spawning inside the fenced in area

Is it completely decked with Utility Cabinets? Should not happen if so, as they set the non-spawn area.

it has a cabinet inside the building i'm "living in". then theres a closed fence surrounding that. thats where they spawn and then start beating on my doors or just walk right in if one of the garage doorsd are up

Utility cabinets designate your base area, so for bigger locations you will need more of them.. Think Rust and tool cabinets.

My current and thus far best spot is in the farmhouse in Russia.

Nice big house with basement, good size kitchen, nice lounge area.

Its easilly fenced off even if it has no excisting fence.
Its also as in the middle of the map as I can find a good building.

There is a large garage next to it and a barn with a good starting farm very close.
There is eaven a well even if I havent used it yet.

Lots of farm animals and game spawn in in the area so meat is no problem.

I only play on hard but copared to other bases I have had I think I get fewer random zombie spawns than in other locations, probably due to animals spawning in their spots.

Im probably going to compound in the area between the houses eventually but I dont really have a need yet, also if I compound it in cows, pigs, deer, rabbits... wont be able to wander in.

Sounds like Calico Farm, great over all place to build.

A couple other fun spots to build are some of the small cabins. They may not have much room, but they are out of the way from the zombies most of the time. I see maybe 1 every couple days. Just need to remember to get solar panels and maybe a few extra generators just in case.
