Troubleshooting via Steam

• Select the Tropico 7 Demo from your Steam library
  
• Either right click the game in your Library, or click the gear icon from the game's Library page on the far right.
  
• From the drop down menu, select "Properties..."
  
• Select the "Local Files" tab and click the "Verify integrity of game files..." button
  
• Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.)

How to get help

In some cases it might be necessary to email us a savegame or certain files – in case you are asked to do so, please email them to [e-mail] and provide them with details regarding the conversation that lead to this email or with a link to the steam thread describing your issue.

What does the team need to address my problem, and what can I provide to speed up the process?

Please provide as much information as possible and a detailed description of the problem you are experiencing. Ideally, please also include steps on how you can reproduce the problem in your report. In certain cases, a video or screenshot of the issue occuring can also be very helpful.
Please also provide your full system information.

• Please provide a DxDiag if possible. To create the DxDiag, please do the following:
  
• Click "Start" button and choose "Run". Or alternatively, press (Windows-Button)+R
  
• Then type "dxdiag" (without quotation marks) and click “OK”
  
• Click the "Save all Information"-button, located at the bottom of the program window
  
• Save the file as "dxdiag.txt”

Please try the following workarounds if you are encountering one of these crashes:

If you experience crashes of the Tropico 7 Demo after launch and you are using an AMD graphics card, please try the following:

• Drivers and Support for Processors and Graphics[www.amd.com] and
  
• Type in your graphics card model.
  
• Select Windows11.
  
• Download the following file: AMD Software Adrenalin Edition - Revision Number: Adrenalin 26.9.2 WHQL (Optional)
  File Size: 941 MB
  Release Date: 2026-09-29
  Beware that it might not be the first download option in the list.
  
• Open the downloaded installer and proceed with the installation.

If Tropico 7 closes automatically when you try to start a new game from the main menu, Windows Defender may be blocking the game from accessing your files.
To potentially fix this, please try these steps:

• Open Windows Security.
  
• Open the Protection history (located on the bottom left).
  
• Look for any blocked action related to Tropico7.exe and allow it.

Then please try starting a new game again.

1. If you experience crashes of the Tropico 7 Demo after launch and you are using an AMD graphics card, please try updating your GPU drivers by following these steps:

• Go to 'Start' and type in 'AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition'
  
• Open the AMD Software
  
• In the upper right corner, you see your currently installed drivers version
  
• If your installed version is not 26.10.1, press the red 'Manage Updates' button
  
• Update AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition by pressing the 'Update' button

2. If Tropico 7 closes automatically when you try to start a new game from the main menu, Windows Defender may be blocking the game from accessing your files.

• Open Windows Security.

3. If Smart App Control is blocking the game please try the following potential workaround:
Add an Exclusion in Windows Security

• Open Windows Security from the Start Menu.
  
• Go to Virus & threat protection -> Manage settings (under Virus & threat protection settings).
  
• Scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions.
  
• Click Add an exclusion -> Folder, then select the Tropico 7 Demo installation folder inside your steamapps/common directory.

4. If Controlled Folder Access is blocking the game:
If the game is prevented from saving progress, writing settings files, or launching properly due to Windows ransomware protection, add it as an allowed app:

• Open Windows Security from the Start Menu.
  
• Go to Virus & threat protection
  
• Ransomware protection (click Manage ransomware protection).
  
• Check if Controlled folder access is turned on, then click "Allow an app through Controlled folder access".
  
• Click "Add an allowed app" and then:
  
• a) select Recently blocked apps (if the game was blocked recently) and select Tropico7.exe
  
• b) or select Browse all apps and navigate to your installation directory (e.g., inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tropico 7 Demo) and select the primary game executable (Tropico7.exe).
  
  Note: You can also add the game's save folder (C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\My Games\Tropico 7 Demo) under Protected folders.
