Tropico 7

Tropico 7

Tropico 7 Demo won’t launch
The Kalypso launcher opens normally, but nothing happens when I click “Launch Game.” The game itself does not start, and no error message appears.

System: Windows 11, NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti (16 GB VRAM), AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, 32 GB system RAM.

I checked Windows Security’s Protection History and Virus & threat protection, but found no related blocked actions. I also verified the integrity of the game files through Steam, and no issues were found.

Because my C: drive has limited free space, I installed the demo on a different drive, at:

X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Tropico 7 Demo

Both the Kalypso launcher and Tropico7.exe are in this same folder. Could the installation location be related to the issue?

Hi please check if one of these steps does help you:

3. If Smart App Control is blocking the game please try the following potential workaround:
Add an Exclusion in Windows Security
  • Open Windows Security from the Start Menu.
  • Go to Virus & threat protection -> Manage settings (under Virus & threat protection settings).
  • Scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions.
  • Click Add an exclusion -> Folder, then select the Tropico 7 Demo installation folder inside your steamapps/common directory.

4. If Controlled Folder Access is blocking the game:
If the game is prevented from saving progress, writing settings files, or launching properly due to Windows ransomware protection, add it as an allowed app:
  • Open Windows Security from the Start Menu.
  • Go to Virus & threat protection
  • Ransomware protection (click Manage ransomware protection).
  • Check if Controlled folder access is turned on, then click "Allow an app through Controlled folder access".
  • Click "Add an allowed app" and then:
  • a) select Recently blocked apps (if the game was blocked recently) and select Tropico7.exe
  • b) or select Browse all apps and navigate to your installation directory (e.g., inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tropico 7 Demo) and select the primary game executable (Tropico7.exe).

Note: You can also add the game's save folder (C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\My Games\Tropico 7 Demo) under Protected folders.

I had already searched for and tried both of the methods you suggested, but it still doesn't work.
