You should get access to Maser Gun once you reach Distribution Center West of Capital Knot.
When you are tasked with going into any MULE Camps, it will help if you go in with no extra Gear (Packages) on you, this way the sentry probes will ignore your presence. This will allow you to sneak and make better use of stealth kills much better.
Overall you are never killing them, just knocking them out.
If you do KO a few, be on the look out for others around, as if there is just one guy left running around, he can come and revive the ones that are KO'ed
You can spot MULEs much further away via a Watch Tower. While your charged scanning can pickup the packages, it doesn't pickup the MULEs like a Watch Tower does. However you can know there is a MULE moving around when only using your suit scanning, by way of a package that appears to be on-the-move. When you spot any MULEs, notice them doing their own scans as well. Orange flash is them doing a scan and looking around, if it turns Red, they have eyes-on tracking of you.
The EX Grenades are only good against BTs. Honestly I don't waste my time with those grenades, as getting much better stuff to actually combat them properly, is not far away in the story progress. I do however like to make a habit of creating EX Grenades from Shower, and doing a #1 and #2 at the toilet, via your Personal Room. Before I go to my Personal Room, I ensure to drink whatever is left in my Canteen. Once in the room, drink all of the energy drinks. Then go ahead and Shower and Urinate. It's not very often you have to actually do #2 at toilet, unless you are taking damage that causes a lose of blood and eating bugs to recover. All of those produced grenades go to that facilities Private Locker, then I just Recycle them to produce Chiral Crystals. It's not much, but it helps over time.
When outdoors deciding what to pickup, deliver, etc. Be sure to pickup the Chiral Crystals as you go, as often as you can. If you play at 1440p or 2160p they are easy to spot via naked eye without constantly doing scans.
Unless it is a Mission to give a facility Chiral Crystals, then there is no point of a facility holding on to them, unless you need some for fabricating items from that facility; otherwise go ahead and take all the Chiral Crystals from each facility for yourself.
When outside of personal room you can review such information at any tielme by pressing TAB key (ad long as not inside a vehicle of any kind) and look at the various Tips and such. Or do other things such as manually save the game, etc.
You also have your "strand" which will make Melee combat so much easier. Parry once, Subdue next. Rinse and repeat. DOwn the road the Bolo gun will help at a distance, and if you land headshots, you knock em out.
Killing them will... cause a void out
Ok I'll try that. I some how got a KO on one of them using Bola + Head shot but the next few guys I know I got em in the head but all it did was tie them up as if I aimed for body or legs. And then one guy got a hit on me, the Bola gun should have landed on the ground, never found it, just disappeared so I just personal found it easier to use forms of melee with punches, kicks, drop kick, hitting them with cargo, using the master gun... etc
But this was also in the 2nd map where you start laying paved roads and such, they are obviously more aggressive in this area as opposed to 1st map area (east coast).
On the first map it was rather easy to sneak up and use strand rope on them
Bola gun is best gun; you can use it against both humans and BTs and it doesn't slurp up your blood.
Bolagun never disappoints! You'll love what it does to BTs when the time comes.
