Although, what I am thinking is you need to press shift/boost before going on the jump, and reach x speed. I guess. I thought maybe you also had to press space when you jump but that would just make me do a trick.
Plus, mind the angle of the jump ramps you build — most of the jump ramps people place have very steep angles, which is the reason why you might be getting higher rather than further.
Another thing I suspect is that you might also need to have a good ground contact — sometimes, due to uneven terrain, you'll lose ground contact just before jumping, which will lead to your losing momentum just before making the jump.
If you're on a trike it lets you do some daft little tricks...
As a means of getting around? If it looks like it lets you jump over a river/canyon, it probably does if you're wearing the speed skelly... If it looks like you can jump up on top of a cliff? Probably not in my limited experience with them.
I prefer to put zip lines up all over the place instead.
Zip line are nice but they are a pain to setup. I always seemed to place them just out of reach of the next one. :)
When you're placing them, look for where the next one is (if there's one already there). You'll see lines connecting them if they're going to be in range. Also lets you know if there's anything blocking the way.
They have a range of 300M at level 1. I think it's 350M at level 2. Haven't upgraded any to level 3 yet.
I upgraded many and some to level 3 but it just adds durability.
Luckily you can use the map to dismantle a structure. It would be cool if you could use the map to lay out the zip lines and then go build them on makers placed while in map.
