Constantly getting an error popup that says data cannot be saved after I load the exported data from the original game version

Then you should've done it the official way.

I've found a problem for anyone having trouble transfering on linux. You need to copy the transfer.dat file yourself on Linux, as each game uses a different wine prefix. I ended up exporting in DS, then copying the file and then opening up DSDC and it could then see the transfer. Might be some similar ways to get the file over for unusual Windows installs too I guess.

~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/1190460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/KojimaProductions/DeathStranding/<number>/transfer/transfer.dat

to

~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/1850570/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/KojimaProductions/DeathStranding/<number>/transfer/

There's a 10 digit number for <number> but I don't know if it's a ID number so I've removed it from the copied paths. The number was the same on both installs for me. HTH

Great! It's:steamhappy: worked!

This worked for me as well. Thanks a lot! :steamhappy:

There's one thing I want to add to this. On Linux, If you installed the games on a different storage drive (rather than your main boot drive), the path to your transfer file is going to be a little different. Go to the directory called "SteamLibrary" on the root of that drive you have DS installed on and then go to ~/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1190460/pfx/drive_c/... etc etc. You won't find it in your home directory otherwise.
why my achievements haven't been exported from DS to the director's cut? aaaa

Is it possible to export from Death stranding on Epic to Director's cut on Steam in any way? I'm receiving this message

"In order to load exported save data, you must launch the game using the same a ccount that was used to c reate the data."
Oh, yeah. Dont make your game work, put it on the player to do complicated and annoying rituals to keep playing the game they bought after you de-listed your game to get rid of all the bad reviews and re-list it as a bogus "director's cut"

Open old game -> export save while no active delivery
Open new game

complicated
???

Non-game owner's brain exploded after seeing a wall of text.
It took 48 hours to download this. What's the point of getting the other save files again?

to be able to carry your achievements over along with your character and current game... just be sure you do not have any active missions in the original game before exporting the save from there...

I was planning to replay the game from the start to experience whatever the new/changes are in this 'directors cut'.

Does importing the save improve or change anything about that?
Would that be a ng+ thing or something?
if you want to replay it clean, i would not worry about getting the old save...

I've found a problem for anyone having trouble transfering on linux. You need to copy the transfer.dat file yourself on Linux, as each game uses a different wine prefix. I ended up exporting in DS, then copying the file and then opening up DSDC and it could then see the transfer. Might be some similar ways to get the file over for unusual Windows installs too I guess.

~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/1190460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/KojimaProductions/DeathStranding/<number>/transfer/transfer.dat

to

~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/1850570/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/KojimaProductions/DeathStranding/<number>/transfer/

There's a 10 digit number for <number> but I don't know if it's a ID number so I've removed it from the copied paths. The number was the same on both installs for me. HTH
Ты просто лучший, я устал ломать голову как на Steam Deck сделать перенос. Спасибо за инструкцию. Перенес сохранения, все работает.:steamhappy:
