Survey: Did you prefer the Dirt Rally series or the WRC series so far?
The reason I'm asking is that I have seen different kinds of expectations to the new WRC game made by Codemasters.

Some people say they didn't like the Dirt Rally 2.0 core physics (e.g. the center pivoting), while others seem to hope for this new game to be a Dirt Rally 3.0 with some improvements and official licensing.

How do you all feel about this topic?
Would you rather get something closer to Dirt Rally 2.0 or to the previous WRC games?

I prefer KTs wrc series. I like their stages and handling moreso than the first series. Ultimately I push towards simulators and also play RBR

Prefer Dirt Rally and would rather get something closer to it. The biggest difference between them that I noticed was the physics and game performance. WRC has micro-stutters pretty much in all games as far as I know, and its physics model felt laughable (check out my review of the WRC 10 if you want).

As WRC 2023 will have problems with the UE-engine (no VR, track pop-in assets), I can also tell that many stages (Nordic) are very off in terms of reality. The lack of banks/roadside ditches in Finland and Sweden suggest a poor stage design. I need to try the WRC title before I can give a review. The physics seems to be the same as DR2/although grip on tarmac has been adjusted.... Just speculating.

Someone that had access to the preview build can compare.

EDIT: to answer the question, I liked DR1 & 2 over KT's WRC series for many reasons. Way over those titles fly RBR.

I found a video comparing the preview to real life japan stages apparently:

Not sure how other areas match tho

preferred dirt rally and dirt rally 2.0 to anything kylotonn did with wrc. i bought wrc 5,9,10 and all were instant regret of the purchase. cant say how good wrc generations was, but if the handling was the same as the previous ones then i'm out.

WRC Generations has been the best overall experience for me.

there is zero competition here. Dirt Rally series is far superior to the WRC games. WRC had a better campaign, but that's it.

there isn't a single stage in dirt rally that could compare to any of KT's. not only that but the sense of speed is terrible in dirt rally

WRC Generations the best

Only had micro stutters in their early games - 5-7 I think

I had them in 8 too :/ With FreeSync it's a bit better, but even on 144hz I can't get it to feel as smooth as other games. Not sure why that is.

Everyone always talks about the numbers up to WRC10 and they stop. WRC Gen was by far the best game out of the series. Was it great, no. It just felt better and the handbrake worked better, except you can't change the keybind that I can find.

Let's see what they've got here, hope I don't have to refund.
