LINUX/STEAM DECK - EA app Online Features not available
Has anyone else experienced this issue? It is specific to Linux/Steam Deck—I was able to reproduce it on both my PC and Steam Deck in all Need for Speed games. I can play the game, but I can't invite friends to my group because the EA app displays a "Connection Failed" error. There's nothing I can do—I’ve tried everything, including a fresh install, but nothing works. I think EA has found yet another way to make Linux players even angrier. First, it was kernel-level anti-cheat, and now it's the EA app.

Same issue here, running through Lutris and Steam. This ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ app only says Connection Failed

Yeah, also, the friends list is offline, and I can neither invite nor be invited. I tried with Lutris and got this message: "Some of the features are turned off because the app has been launched from a different application." EA is so s**t! Always problems. I swear I won't buy any game from them.

I'm having the same issue on Steam Deck but it works just fine on PC. Does anyone have a solution?

So, you're saying that there's a reason it says Steam Deck is unsupported on the store page? Huh, who would've thought.

The thing is that it used to work. Dead Space 3, for example, was not supposed to work at all for coop in Linux. Made it to 50% with a friend while on my Steam Deck.

Well, it works for me right now. Point is, when you use launchers, like EA or Ubi, it's never a guarantee that what worked yesterday will work tomorrow. The launchers are getting updates all the time and this can and frequently does break things. I'm guessing this is why is officially unsupported. Doesn't mean it won't work, it means don't complain if it doesn't.

I am using lutris and with one change it worked for:

1. Lutris
2. search for your "EA App" entry
3. at the bottom click on the arrow then "Wine-Configuration"
4. tab "Staging"
5. enable checkbox for "Hide Wine version from applications"

But that probably means EA is deliberately blocking Wine/Proton. Unfortunately, I don't know if circumventing it like that could lead to a ban.

```
Manjaro unstable aka Arch Linux
GE-Proton (Latest) from Lutris
```

No, EA doesn't deliberately block anything, they're just incompetent and their launcher is crap. It works for me on Steam Deck with no issues and I tried multiple Proton versions.

For steam:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version.dll=n,b" %command%
or
WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/<GAME_ID>/pfx/ winecfg

BUT

It is no longer working. I don't think any other company has pissed me off this badly. I bought all the NFS games for me and my son, and now we can't play together on a Linux PC and Steam Deck. I wish Valve would do something about it.

So don't bother even at $5? Got it.
