Volume 6 Speed Pass is a STEP BACKWARDS
𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗧 𝗔 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗦?

The new Volume update dropped just now and it's disappointing. The previous Speed Passes were not behind a paywall and all of it was free for everyone. Now with the Volume 6 Speed Pass, it's now behind a paywall where you'll have to spend money in order to get things that are part of the new Premium Speed Pass. There's still free stuff you can get, but with the newest Audi being available only for premium owners of the Speed Pass while the other 2 are from Need for Speed Heat, it defeats the purpose of adding new cars. This is completely going a step backwards from the previous Speed Passes and seem very money hungry.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗛

After looking closely into the Speed Pass, I found out only 2 out of 3 cars are free, while the new Audi is behind a paywall. This is very sad to see as previous Volume(s) all the new cars were free and all you had to do was a certain challenge to unlock them.

𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗘 𝟮

Mercedes-Maybach S 680 - Get 30 stars on Hot Laps

𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗘 𝟯

DMC DeLorean - Complete 12 rounds of Linkups

𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗘 𝟰

Porsche Taycan Turbo S - Finish the Porsche Unleashed playlist 3 times

𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗘 𝟱

BMW M2 Coupe - Perform 25 near misses in any BMW whilst being chased by cops

𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗘 𝟲 - (𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁)

Audi S5 Sportback - Reach level 10 in the Volume 6 Speed Pass
Audi R8 Coupe - Reach level 25 in the Volume 6 Speed Pass

These cars listed above weren't behind a paywall. However, the new Audi RS 6 Avant is behind a paywall.

𝗩𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗠𝗘 𝟲 - (𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁)

Audi RS 6 Avant - Reach level 5 in the Volume 6 Speed Pass and spend $9.99 for the Volume 6 Premium Speed Pass

This completely defeats the purpose of adding a new car and adding 2 existing cars from Need for Speed Heat and saying they're "new" is nonsense. They're not new, the only new car here is the RS 6 Avant, which is again, behind a paywall.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗠𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗦?

I am worried if the RS 6 Avant happens to be really good at a competitive level or give a player high advantage, it'll be considered pay to win. It's like how people in Heat found out the RSR was the fastest in the game and it made everyone use it, because it was the meta, but at least it isn't behind a paywall and everyone can grab it without spending real money.

Do you agree? If so, let me know and bring this attention to EA/Need for Speed

I don't even know yet, like when I try to play the game the game has some type of graphical issues and it really hurts the eye ngl has anyone had that issue before or am i alone?

I only played near launch, what are all these speed passes? I don;t see them on the store page, are those like f2p battlepass things? That you have to pay irl money for?

I noticed that too. I’m not sure what’s causing it, but it could be some kind of bug that might get a patch soon.

It’s like a battle pass, but it was all for free unlike your usual battle passes where they costed money. In Need for Speed it’s called a Speed Pass and they started doing it since Volume 3. The rest like 4 and 5 were all free and wasn’t behind a paywall. If you missed them, they actually done something that no other game did and that was allowing players to buy the Speed Pass, even if they missed the chance to play during the Volume, it’s very nice and not making players have to worry about losing exclusive content. Now that the Volume 6 Speed Pass came out, it’s now behind a paywall and all the “new” cars are behind it.

I like free stuff too, but if a game is putting stuff behind a paywall and call it “new”, it’s disappointing because it was never like this at all until now

Wait, so in this single player focused franchise they added that online seasonal whoops you might miss it kind of content, and I have to pay to access it? If I got this full price I'd be upset lol.

If they want to make seasonal nonsense then they can go make an MMO racer and try and compete with FH/The Crew and kills off the franchise for good. Hopefully the recent feedback session with NFS community peeps will have swayed the next NFS game into a more positive direction

They were wanting to add new content like they promised. The Speed Pass is a good addition to this. They failed to do this with Heat, adding only 2 cars (both behind a paywall) and mainly bug fixes. There wasn’t much content at all. I can them switching it out with the idea of the Speed Pass (which is free and not behind a paywall like usual passes are in all games). They add new cars that wasn’t in a NFS title like the DMC DeLoren for an example. They added cops in free roam, new playlist, and even linkups (which feels like a destruction derby for the most part). Overall, I don’t see how a Speed Pass could kill the franchise of NFS.

They gotta make their money somehow since almost everyone refunded their copy in the first couple months of release and nobody came back since. 2,000 players right now after the volume 6 update, NFS Heat has triple that and it's been out for almost 4 years now and hasn't had an update since year 1.

Flop.

If that’s the case, this surely will make more people give a negative review on this and may end up losing more players in the player base.

I get that they need money to add more content, but I'd rather have it as a straight up dlc/expansion pass you can buy (more transparency than fomo seasonal events, maybe I'm weird but not super into the online missable seasonal things, despise it in the new Hitman games)

With Heat I think post launch support just wanted to see bug fixes and perhaps balancing etc, but it got 3 months of post launch updates or so then nothing happened. And once you figured out the RSR is the fastest car it ruined all the other cars. If the balance was a bit better sorted then I think Heat has enough content in the way of cars (some more tracks would be appreciated but that is more of my idea on what it should have launched with instead of post launch content, especially if these games are being charged full price)

But I am derailing slightly my apologies, agree that there should be transparency on what is DLC, what is "seasonal" (ew) content etc. Weird cars to make us pay for as well, not quite going to be class leading these unless the unique tuning is good (not sure if the notes of less snappy grip controls applies only to Audis or all grip cars)

Remember that, like all season passes, this is a timed event that will disappear forever in a few months. Pure fomo cancer.

If they want to make money, just sell the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cars in a DLC.

That’s not the point about this discussion of what I’m trying to say. I’m saying that the Volume 6 Speed Pass is behind a paywall. They started doing Speed Passes since Volume 3. The previous Speed Passes were all free and wasn’t behind a paywall. And all the Audi(s) are in that paywall in the Speed Pass of Volume 6

i know that it looks bad but they gotta make money somehow... and they do have cool stuff such as free realistic nitro variants and other customization.
Swarmfly Feb 27, 2024 @ 9:08am
Perhaps this title in particular should have been free to play right from the get-go.
