Why so much hate?

Because it's a ♥♥♥♥ game that's why. The fact that it comes from a ♥♥♥♥ company doesn't help matters either.

I don't understand how people can defend it. It's got the same graphics if not worse than Most Wanted. Physics are a lot worse too. The story mode is stale, no replayability, multiplayer is worse plus you have to start from scratch, you find yourself muting most of the games audio because dialogue and the music options are some of the worst in gaming history and you still can't hear your car, you can't have drift trains because the game has really bad synchronisation. The game is still unbalanced so you have to follow the meta to win (not that losing matters. You get just as much for losing because of the x1.5 boost they give you.) So many things that make a racing game fun were completely disregarded by EA and instead we got more GenZ politics in the game than content.

The cherry on top here is a game like Mario Kart made in 2007 beats NFS: Unbound 2023 in most categories I just listed. Drifting, sync, physics, boost physics, balance, replayability, even the lobbies are a lot bigger. Hopefully EA sells the franchise to someone else, maybe to Microsoft if we're really lucky.

I didn't say bad. I said it looks the same if not worse. The game looks better than most arcade racers, but Heat looks slightly better than this. You can run a lot of games with better graphics and use half the power Unbound requires including Heat. The characters in Heat were a lot better. My main point is this game in its current state is a downgrade from a lot of NFS titles in a lot of ways and can't compete with many racing games in general, especially for the price. 70 is way too much and you can't deny that.

Now go look at the city in Need for Speed 2015. Looks and feels identical to a city in California. I'll admit the city in heat is small but it's not like Unbound is an improvement. It might be bigger but if the cars are unpredictable and handle like ♥♥♥♥ then a tight city is the last place you want to be. I honestly don't even like Heat either, 2015 will always be my favorite until we get better customization in the newer games.

I really wish a game with a premium $70 price tag would at least try to imitate Forza Horizon's habit of monthly content updates to some appreciable degree.

The months of sheer radio silence between each update this game has been receiving is rather discouraging, and I do express doubts regarding the developers' intent to provide gamemodes that stray from necessitating the player from having to tryhard every race with the meta cars, such as a proper quick play mode.

There are so many different options that they've mastered in the past or they could've borrowed from other franchises like time-attacks, off-road rally races from Payback, manual shift drag races from 2015, something fun that actually requires skill at the very least, not just googling the fastest car and ramming others. They could've given us a real takeover event where we try to hold a drift at the intersection but instead we got those chaotic derby events. I don't understand why they gave us that, no street racer wants to ram a dumpster at top speed. At least it was something different but it made zero sense. Hit as many random ass objects as you can to win? What is this, pinball?

You can access the discussions page still, I'm snooping around for a key but apparently collectors price is $20,000! The guys probably ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with OP though but I wouldn't gamble on it.
