Controller bindings all messed up

I have an xbox controller I was planning to play with until I found out A was the menu button, B made me scroll up, etc. I looked at the controller mappings in settings and they're all fine, it says A=Primary button while in reality its a random other button. I looked through the settings and dont think theres a place where I can bind the buttons on the controller to something that actually makes sense. Anybody know how to fix this because there is no way im playing another driving game with a keyboard.

Do you have any other peripherals plugged in? Start pulling cords, one of them is most likely messing with your settings.

i mean, everything i have plugged in is necessary.

got the same problem with my PS5 controller, any fixes would be helpfull

complete PC restart seemed to fix it for me.

Are you using a wireless controller? Mine didn't work wireless, had to plug it in with a USB cable for it to be detected properly.

Store page should be changed to read "Full controller support...if you unplug all your USB input devices first."

same i cant use ps5 controller to play the game .... what wrong ??

I'm using a DualSense 5 but it's plugged in. Controller works fine so maybe try a restart/unplugging any other control peripherals. Biggest issue I'm running into is lack of remapping options, had to use Steam Controller support to remap outside of game but that creates its own set of issues.

unplugged my mouse which is the only one, still not working thanks anyway though.
