Why is Origin needed?
Did Apex Legends not say a thing about what people think of Origin

DRM issues basically for paid games
It's an EA game, what do you expect. They sync all their info on their own network, which also now enables cross play.

A launcher is not a necessity for cross-play and all that...which Apex Legends itself proves so to be true. Which is why it baffles me in the first place.

Nothing wrong with Origin, more babies crying I see.

It has been probably more than a decade since NFS started depending on the Origin systems and a launcher is very much necessary if the company doesn't want to dedicate resources into adapting their APIs and telemetry for random 3rd party stores like Steam. You'll notice that by pretty much all companies with a platform that didn't fail require you to have said platform installed, like R*, Origin, Ubisoft Connect.

Integrated services aren't as easy as "just don't use the launcher". That trivialization would be similar to the way some people on the internet think that games are made "just copy paste the assets into a new engine".

And what is with Microsoft Games? Why can they do it? Why can Activision do it with Modern Warfare 2? Origin and Uplay are just bloatware in order to lure people onto their own launcher. Nothing more. Telemetry etc to Steam is already provided since features like Steam Achievements and the installation through Steam as well as Steams overlay are also featured. So no excuses there.

Windows is MS's launcher.

It's needlessly, and pointlessly enforcing DRM, on top of Steam's preexisting DRM. It's objectively pointless and serves no benefit to anybody.

How's about not antagonizing people?

Sure, Halo Infinite can do it, but so can COD MW2 do it, Apex Legends can do it. Origin is just unnecessary DRM ontop of the games. Hell, it's bad for the Steam Deck too.

You seem to be missing the point, even the games you mentioned have to talk home. Some games can get away with using a lite launcher or when its worth the investment a completely custom one. Just because you know a few game examples where someone put in the extra investment does not mean that is a smart investment for every game. The goal of company is to make money, not waste money on retooling. If you have a launcher that works for 99% of your games that is what you are going to use.

this, people love to ♥♥♥♥♥ over the smallest ♥♥♥♥, as if rainbow six siege doesn't require uPlay but i ain't see no one complain about it
People have *criticized* it in that regard. You not seeing said criticism, doesn't at all imply that it doesn't exist.

Installing an additional launcher, when Steam is a launcher in and of itself is pointless.

Let me simplify it. EA forces their users, to install their cancerous launcher, to launch their games, to launch on Steam (which is again, already a launcher), to be launched through their launcher. It's absolutely stupid.

Because it is an EA Game and its going to require your EA Online Account.
Simple as that. It's been this way since BF3 came out, why are people surprised.
That's like people complaining about having to have the Rockstar Launcher for GTAV and RDR2. Seriously?

Also Origin is dead, replaced by the EA Games App

Which leads to the question why I have to install Origin when playing an EA game even though the EA Games App is already installed...
