Good combat showcase for anyone curious
This was a pretty decent explanation of the combat mechanics, different combos and abilities you have and a good showcase of them I felt.

It was definitely way more informative about the actual gameplay and combat than anything official that Bioware put out, I have no idea who was in charge of their marketing but they really dropped the ball.

You can probably get a pretty good idea of whether or not you'll like the combat from watching this! For those actually on the fence about this game and not just rage baiting or trolling.

SPOILER ABOUT POTENTIAL COMPANION DEATHS
Also apparently every single one of your companions can die depending on your choices, which I imagine means it's very similar to ME2 where it depends on if you did their "loyalty" missions or not.

This is probably what all the vaguery about "severe consequences" in the last 2 hours of the game was referencing in almost every review I've seen.

Some of the animations still seem a little wonky, and the physics on that guy's Gandalf looking hobo character were something special, but it seems alot more responsive than the official gameplay videos made it out to be ^^
This actually looked really compelling, honestly. Good overview.

I was reading that the rogue class is strong enough initially for everything to be brute forced, and that may shape some takes on the combat. Mage is the reverse where its power is in the late game. Although critiques on variety, outside of build choices, seem fair enough to me although we're still seeing stuff which is filtered for spoilers.

the companion quests will have to be done in a 10 hour-ish marathon before the game ends or the comps will probably not have a good time. Also, the combat does not change at all from the first fight to the last. All the mechanics are there from the start and nothing gets added or changed. It has about as much build variety as DA:I had 10 years ago. You can also ignore most mechanics and brute force everything because the game offers no challenge.

I mean their difficulty settings seem really customizable. You can adjust things like enemy aggression, parry/dodge timing, attack speed, damage, HP etc. I imagine you can probably make a pretty difficult experience if you wanted to.

And obviously if you play on normal or story mode (which Skill Up did and he thought the combat was too easy) then you'll probably have a boring time if you have the skill and ability to play on a harder difficulty but the only thing turning you off is inflated HP which you can customize. ^^

Also yea, mage seems to have a really hard time early game from what I've heard too since SO much enemy aggression is focused on you before you can have warrior companions or more abilities to deal with it. But then gets really strong later!
