How Realms of Ruin nailed the tabletop experience
Like Tabletop games, realms of meticulous detail on how a the battle is planned then plays out. Races gain vision in several ways such and setting up traps like Kruleboyz orrek clan, massing units like the nighthaunt, sniping units with your elites as happens with invis or abilites on the StormCaller (SCE) or Tzeech's way of using acolytes early for map control to carefully choosing objectives to dictate the pace of the game. It feels very reminiscent of chess where trading and choosing which pieces to remove from the board gives the strategy.

I love how this game distincts itself from other games like DOW2 where the focus was on poking and retreating and instead gives an advantage to trade and lose units with a purpose such as drawing the tanky Dobby tzanganers tzeech army out of a choke, setting up for traps with kruleboyz, buying time to increase the triple champions on nighthunt, or baiting stormcaller units to drop onto a specific target. It's very much like chess where actions matter and you have to choose which pieces to sacrifice.

I feel like it was a bit hard to learn the units as the information on the units in the game were somewhat hard to follow, but thankfully I found some really nice unit guides by zerkovich that saved hours of time in trying to understand which upgrades and units I'm making these decisions for. I read some reviews online and I didn't really understand what they were reviewing as it felt irrelevant to my thoughts and experience.

I noticed some themes that I'm still wrapping my head around given how distinct the 4 factions are. The kruleboyz scale somewhat evenly, setup for abilities and traps, hit strong timings with monsters and their super beefy tier 1 heroe scaling later in the game and are kind of a tricky race. The stormcallers really are about keeping things alive more than the other races. Their mid tier units seem very strong and the invis calldown thing is incredibly hard to deal with. The Tzeech have a nutso ranged setup but only have tzangeers as their defensive units. I feel like a lot of people are going for that strat around the 20 minutes mark. They have a nuke calldown thing this is just brutal basically putting you on a timer to break that army before the nuke happens closer to the 25 minute mark. The Nighthunt seem to have 2 really strong units and 3 heroes. If they aren't controlling the map in the midgame they seem to fall apart. It's like in chess wanting to keep the bishops out of the game and just staying active everywhere running around the outsides like crazy. The heroes are so fun to use for nighthunt.

I really want to thank the devs for having realms of ruin nail the tabletop experience and save time for me wanting to play this. It much easier to do than a full setup and let's me hang out with my girlfriend during her hours and then just jump on this in the off hours for a quick 15-25 minute game or two.

Absolutely nailed it!

I agree I too am a fan of AoS tabletop I actually play Stormcast and Ironjawz and absolutely love this game so far. All the people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it, bought it expecting some crazy ass RTS micro managing ♥♥♥♥ show I guess, its more of a tactical RTS to an extent but with units not just a character. I don't understand how the simple folk are like HURRRR UNIT NO ATTACK DURRR like...just click on an enemy or hit F on the ground near the enemy. They do indeed attack, people must just be brain dead I guess idk. Also the pirates crying about it not being an easy crack are just scum lords so they can suck my balls.

Ye i hate that people rush to pirate this stuff. I think RTS players probably only make sense out of the spammy small nighthunt units with 3 heroes while running around the mapgames style. I don't mind people complaining if they wanted that experience, but I also would like for them to say what about playing nighthunt they don't like.
