How do splits work?
For example, lets say there are going to be 50 enemies released in the next level. When I expand, there is a 2-way split:

1. Will there be 50 enemies coming from each split/lane, meaning 100 enemies total?
2. Will that 50 be split among the lanes, meaning 25 enemies from each lane?
3. Something else entirely?

Thanks

Mobs cost certain points, weaker ones cost less, later ones cost more, which is "purchased" randomly every round... and then mobs themselves then are evenly distributed across all spawning lanes, but not necessarily by their value AFAIK.

There might be some math that sorts them to be somewhat fair (but I don't think so) but also not 100% sure or if any updates changed how this core mechanic works. Regardless,
that's why early on you might see like 3 rams come down one lane and no others.

It's also why, at least for triple and quad lane, splits can later be beneficial if you get lucky RNG because it will eventually mean you don't have to keep supporting your 3 weakest lanes with new towers as their mob counts will get thinner and thinner. So trying to figure out which is the best lane to extend the most and which lanes to guard and stop expanding is part of the strategy.

I don't have a clue how it determines the types either, since most of the new mobs didn't exist, and again, no idea if some of the newest patches changed the formula at all, I just know for a long time this is how it worked.

This is exactly why I asked this question, thanks! My plan is to keep expanding one lane so that the splits nearer to my base have less and less enemies coming from them, I just wanted to make sure it actually worked that way.

(in single lane, i can never do well with the others) if i get my first split very close to home, i leave one alone and just extend the other way...which ones and how being another topic...and i have to be careful with this one that is close to home, because even if I extend the other way, and get lots of splits while doing so, i do not want to hit that one that's close very soon because if it splits then i may have more coming quick so close, and I'll wait till later when the chances of it splitting are way down or just impossible because of the math with what level it is, but i take any chance otherwise to extend it in order to put more distance between that entrance and my home as well as getting more terrain upon which to put more stuff...

...SO...the reason for this post - even when i have a dozen entrances out some distance along the other way, and you'd think that not very many would come from this single one close to home...i consider that one very dangerous and don't neglect it. I call that the 'back door through which they will sneak in a bunch of stuff'. though it's a single entrance, sometimes I'll get blitzekrieged and overwhelmed suddenly from there and it's over.
