REAL hw fans would not consume s**t severed in a bow!
my hope is for a mod team to remake hw3 in the hwr engine! (hint hint complex team)
I popped by to see how the demo went down. I missed it, but I was a huge Homeworld fan when it first released. The forum seems really negative after the preview. Hell, I was even intrigued by the imminent release of the Homeworld: Fleet Command board game. Turns out there are a few frowns about that too.
Well, there is hope. The Sins of a Solar Empire 2 Early-Access is finally starting to show some real promise. I'd avoided it because of the single faction, reused ships etc etc, but things have come on leaps and bounds. There are two factions now for a kick off! It's looking darned good, and it's playing pretty good too. I think it's going to be a monster release when it's done.
Drown your sorrows over there instead ;-)
+1
When they call the game "homeworld THREE" i was expecting THE Mothership, and that is NOT the Mothership and this means a lot to me.
Dont want to use the Mothership?
Just call it Homeworld new horizons, new home, expeditions, whatever.. just like you said above.
Look; i love the Enterprise, Millennium Falcon, Rocinante and i expect to see these ships when im engaging with their respective content - this concept is so simple and straightforward to me that is baffling to see it ignored.
For me, the problems began when they released the first trailers of the game. It was evident from the start that despite being a successor with a 20-year gap, there was no evolution of the game. Take Final Fantasy, for example, which evolves its gameplay systems while maintaining the series' characteristics. Homeworld, on the other hand, brought no evolution whatsoever, and the so-called "war games" offer nothing innovative; in fact, it seems quite tedious. So much could have been done while maintaining the game's originality, with ship customization systems, decks, etc., similar to RTS games like Wargame and Broken Arrow.
Not only is there a complete lack of natural progression toward a more modern RTS, but there's also the issue that the good parts of the game were abandoned (camera, fluidity, etc.). The ship design is also horrendous. In summary, they kept the old and outdated and destroyed the good parts that worked well.
For me, this game is beyond redemption; unfortunately, it's the end of the series, at least for me.
