All games seem to get mixed reviews on release these days.
Why is that exactly?

I'm starting to think it's more this than anything else.

Or the opposite is true and it gets glowing reviews (see also: Starfield) for a few weeks then they drop through the floor.

Thinking maybe some manipulation is going on here by people with thousands of accounts that do the bot farming for cards.

i dont think its wrong that all games get bad reviews. if they have issues they have issues! but i do think it will have consequences for less mainstream games and studios. this is probably the end of the road for Homeworld, for better or worse

yeah i usually ignore reviews even the steam ones these days.. you get 2 hours before you cant refund and thats more than enough to get a feel for most games to know if you will like it or not.

I'd be more concerned about the amount of reviews. 200~ is just plain grim.

Most people are at work right now.

So, that's got to be part of it.

EIther way I'll wait till this goes on a sale and buy it. By then the reviews will have stabilized anyway.

Nerds like to complain and whine about everything. Don't pay any attention to them.

LOL!

That may be true of the games that you happen to be interested in but quite a few games out there are still getting positive releases. My 'New and Trending' and 'Top Sellers' lists only have about 2 less-than-positive titles between them right now.

Sure, bandwagoning rage-posts can certainly be a factor but so far, it doesn't seem like reviewers have been shy about their specific HW3 gripes.

There is no manipulation, it is really just how people on the internet are. People that constantly have bad mood are usually grouping up with other negative people that assure them how they are right that "everything is bad" or "was better in the past". And then they need to release that aggression somewhere. And the internet is a big and easy audience.

Its near impossible to pirate the games now so people have to buy them if they want to try them and then they are more likely to get upset and leave a bad review rather than just shrug it off and delete the disliked game from their hard driver.

Then you have the prices that went up over the 200% over the past 20 years and all the micro transaction bs, add to that the fact companies focus more on graphics and less on gameplay and peeps are disappointed. Not to me mention Corpos pull more and more BS lately so there is plenty of reasons to dislike games; like pay extra to play ahead of others, like releasing bare bone games for full price etc.

This is probably the most stupid excuse I hear every time a bad game gets criticised. You like it, fine, but not everyone has low standards.

Brocephus... Broman... brominator... broster....

Prices haven't changed much at all since 2005 when Steam matched console game price points at $60.

Surprisingly.

That always was the case even when reviews used to be more positive, the mixed reviews trend tho is new xD

Ok, so I'm not the only one noticing this? I had this game bookmarked so I can buy it on the first sale, but when it said "it's out" on the main page... I even said it out loud, "bet it's got mixed reviews".

And.. then...

It has mixed reviews.

I guess you knew that last part.

What are you talking about willis, games used to be 30 quid back in 2005 they only went up to 40 in 2010 (ish?) and so on every few years recently going up to 70 with the new BS option to pay a 100 to get it ahead of others ;p
