You don't need Denuvo.
Using Denuvo is like admitting you have no confidence in your product's ability to incentivize a purchase from the pirates on its own. One thing I realized recently is that not a single game with Denuvo ever ended up Steam's top seller for any given year. (Why is Denuvo Anti-Tamper a problem?)

Palworld is currently breaking every sales record on Steam and is completely DRM-free. Last year's best selling title Baldur's Gate 3 was DRM-free, 2022 was the year of Elden Ring - no Denuvo there, 2021's most popular title Valheim was DRM-free, 2020 best selling title Hades was DRM-free, as well as Slay the Spire in 2019, Rimworld in 2018, Hollow Knight in 2017, Stardew Valley in 2016, The Witcher 3 in 2015...

I'm gutted as I've been desperately waiting for the return of Homeworld for years. I'm also a big fan of Black Bird Interactive's job on Shipbreaker who happens to be available DRM-free as well. People love this universe... and they evidently love DRM-free games, so please let them a chance to prove it to you by skipping the usual pitfalls of counter-productive AAA management.

It's made by Gearbox, they're not indie.

Its published by Gearbox, but Blackbird Interactive is the actual developer, and is an independent studio, not part of Gearbox as a whole. So they still fall under the category of indie, as they're not signed fully with them. (Would love to be proven wrong, but i'm almost certain BBI is independent.)

You're not an indie if you have a publisher, kek. Read a book.

I was even told that I was spreading misinformation after mentioning that Denuvo damages SSD drives due to constant reading and writing.

Seriously this idiot and other fanboys have no idea what kind of damage Denuvo does to their hardware.

Because it's misinformation.
You have no idea how it works.
You aren't providing proof.

All Denuvo does in terms of read/writing is creating offline tokens and reading them.
This HAS been proven by both third parties and obviously Denuvo themselves.

Don't bother wasting your time, he just takes unconfirmed claims from forum sites as "proof".

Denuvo absolutely damages drives by constantly having to run stuff it normally doesn't have to run.

Absolutely doesn't. What the heck are you talking about.

edit:
just googled the technical information about the product.

It's literally a 5kb file that is being read and created each time you start up the game

It absolutely does lmao. Denuvo bloats .exe's by over an order of magnitude.

No it doesn't "lmao"

Show me.
Denuvo doesn't read ♥♥♥♥ on your PC.
Are you confusing it with anti cheat or something?

Googling and typing with me here on steam "destroys" your SSD more than Denuvo does.

How did your SSD survive Warhammer? Guess you were lucky!

Sorry, yes it *does* bloat the .exe but it doesn't matter in any way whatsoever.
Are you seriously suggesting that 50-100mb matter when it comes to writing on your SSD/HDD? You switched goalposts so hard I didn't even notice that all of a sudden it's no longer about reading/writing on your HDD/SSD

Either way.

Here are some links for people who want to know how the programm works and tests by users who also debunked the rumors made by ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people.

I'm running a Ryzen 1600 and gtx 1660s, ssd m2 nvme, the demo worked pretty poorly. I usually don’t buy games with Denuvo, I wait a year until they get hacked and download a pirated version, but Homeworld is very important to me, so I bought it, I may have to wait for a pirated version to play normally

REALLY disappointed to find that HW3 is gonna have Denuvo. The first computer I built myself was in preparation for Homeworld. I still have the boxes and books from the first one, Cataclysm, the HW2 collectors edition with the mothership model, and I pre-ordered the collectors edition of HW3. So you already have my money for it, but the Steam version will never be installed until that useless DRM is removed.

Why are they paying for a "service" that damages their game's performance, risks damaging users hardware, AND DOESN'T ACHIEVE WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR.
