Noob having problem with pose-to-pose animation
[EDIT 2]

I have seen all the tutorials on SFM channel on youtube and I am very ashamed that I still can't figure it out, since it seems to be very easy.
Situation looks like this:
I have a clip with not animated model. I want to animate it with a pose-to-pose method so I chose a moment in the timeline and move joints to get a desired pose. At this point when I play the clip the model just "jumps" from one pose to another (and that is all right, if I understand it correctly). I select a part of the timeline and use the "round" tool. From what I understood it should make the model gradually move from one pose to another. It does, but only partially. Let's say the last joint I moved is model's shoulder. When I do everything as described earlier, the shoulder is the only thing that moves smoothly and the rest of the model "jumps" from one pose to another as it did before.
What do I do wrong?
[EDIT 1]
[Okay, it was a bookmarking problem, but now there's another thing – I can't move manipulators when a part of the timeline is selected. I can change the model's position for the whole clip. But when I want to move the model while a part of the timeline is selected, motion controllers jump back to their places when released and the model doesn't move at all. There are some changes in the timeline though, the line "breaks" and the selection becomes orange instead of green, but nothing moves.]

you should select all the bones of the model.

Uh... I am almost sure I did, however I wanted to check if that was the problem. At first it partially worked – everything I wanted was animated but the final pose was like halfway between the starting pose and the actual desired pose. I tried one more time and now I can't even move the manipulators – I try to drag them and they just jump back to their previous position.

because the 'jumped' or sudden animation you did earlier is still recorded, your going to have to select the bones that are doing the sudden switch (rather than a gradual motion) and apply the initial position to the whole time line and press enter so that they dont move at all, and then redo the animation again to make it move gradually.

did you do a bookmarking method?
KosmicznaCebula Sep 25, 2013 @ 3:31pm
I scrapped the failed version and everytime I try to make it properly I do everything from the beginning, so it's not because of the animation I did before.

Bookmarks – that's the thing I missed! Thank you!
But I still can't move those manipulators ;/

I know this might sound dumb, but are you in motion editor mode?

It's okay, I suppose it is some dumb kind of mistake.
Yes, I do it in motion editor mode.

Right... Hm... If you're positive the entire animation set is selected, you're in motion editor mode and the proper timeline region and falloffs are selected, then I don't really know what could cause this... I don't use the round preset much though.

I think I figured out the round preset (thanks to GMVinc for reminding me about bookmarks), but I still got those problems with posing.
Now I found that it happens only if I choose a part of the timeline. If I want to change position for the whole clip everything moves all right. But when I want to move the model while a part of the timeline is selected, motion controllers jump back to their places and the model doesn't move at all. There are some changes in the timeline though, the line "breaks" and the selection becomes orange instead of green, but nothing moves.

Oh, could it be that the playhead isn't in the selected area?
KosmicznaCebula Sep 26, 2013 @ 1:34am
It is in the selected area.

Okay. Could be because the animation set's channel clip doesn't extend far enough then. Try going into clip editor mode, and double-click the shot you're working in. Ensure the yellow clips in there extend until at least past the shot's end (the shot is represented by the lighter grey area in that view). Then click the up arrow button to return to the normal timeline.

If that was it, the models should animate correctly from there on in.

It was as it should be (past the end of a shot) and the model still doesn't move.

Shoot... can't really think of anything else...

Well, now I can't explain this. I just tried the same thing again, I did everything the exact same way like before and it suddenly worked. I have no idea what happened O.o
Thank you very much for trying to help me solve this problem – even though it did magically solve itself, I've learned a few useful things from your comments :)
