but make sure you know the default value before changing it so you can bring it back incase you need to.
Draw distance can be tweaked in the camera settings. If you have an animation set for your camera, just right-click it, go to show in element viewer > camera. minimum and maximum view distance are controlled by znear and zfar respectively.
Actually, I fail to see the problem in your screenshot... Seems to me you're just not supposed to go that high, the map wasn't designed for that most likely.
I'm not sure what those draw distance settings are good for, because they don't seem to do anything in regard to this problem (objects on maps disappearing at a certain distance.)
Here is a video that shows the problem better.

As the camera moves forward, parts of the map that should already be shown appear hidden until it it close enough. Many of the modifications I made to the map were to eliminate the nodraw textures above the ground and also set the occluders in the map to be hidden.
any luck with this btw? i haven't tried myself yet because the map i'm currently using is "secured" (or something) by Valve so i am not able to load it into hammer.

The problem was with the map not allowing for farther distance even though the camera was set to go farther. Thanks everyone for your help.
