HardWare Model. (i think)

It adds additional custom-ability to the model for lip synching and facial expressions.

Ah right, So It just adds more features compared to the normal models?

Yeah. If you are modeling from scratch and want lip synching, or anything beyond animation presets then you want the hwm version. Typically if you are bringing the model in manually then pick the HWM just in case, because swapping the different model versions can get pretty messy.

It stands for HardWare Morph, and it's simply the name of the facial flexes system used by high quality TF2 models, which are supposed to be used when your graphics are maxed out (but it's bugged so this has to be set manually). The HWM models also have another difference, wrinkle mapped faces. As in, their faces have three face textures instead of one, which procedurally blend in and out depending on the character's facial expression to simulate wrinkling.

The Source Filmmaker versions of the HWM TF2 models also have higher resolution textures, higher poly hands, more detailed accessories (the Sniper's hat and the Medic's glasses for instance), additional bodygroups, additional skins and additional bones (the Medic's hair).
Although, there exist only few HWM models. Beside the tf2 models, there are some other costum HWM models, but not every game (like CSGO) supports them.

This Thread's Quit Old, But How Do I Access The HWM Models? From What I Know, They're Different To The Standard tf Models You Find In The Model Viewer (Like player\medic). Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated

you can find them by either changing your model menu to just look at models from "tf_movies" or by simply typing hwm/"classname" in the model menu's search bar.
ex. hwm/soldier

And also to just let you know, some cosmetics will end up clipping with certain parts of the hwm models, since the cosmetics were designed to fit on the regular player models, and not the hwm models.

Heh, I Did Look For The Models In The tf_movies Folder, But There Was Nothing There At All. I Even Put tf_movies Up The Very Top In The Search Path Hierarchy Thingy, But That Didn't Work. But I Found A Solution, What I Did Was I Copied The Models From The HWM Folder And Thier Materials, And I Put Them In The usermod Folder. This Works Fine! But Thank You For Your Help!

Hardware morph models have more polygons, better hands, textures, and a better facial rig (if you can call it that, source uses blendshapes rather than bones).
